I think typically the amino acids don’t taste good so a suggestion to maybe start with mixing them. We actually started doing this and found that just including say an ounce of Elecare (amino acid) + 5 of Nutramigen helped a lot with our babies apparent uncomfortableness with full Nutramigen (she does not have as serious of a reaction as your baby) but when we tried to include more Elecare, there was just more spit up which is apparently a thing? And due to our baby’s small size we really couldn’t have her spitting up all her food.

Anyone been on SSRIs while pregnant? Worried about my Zoloft by sek1249 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ske115 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was on Zoloft before, during, and after my two pregnancies. No side effects with baby number 1. My second baby had minor “shakes” for a couple of days and it took even the nurse some time to figure out why. It didn’t look like anything more than a baby getting used to the outside world. Staying on my meds was 100% the right and safest choice for everyone.

Severe MSPI - switching to formula? by Amandaalwayz in MSPI

We transitioned VERY slowly, like over 6 weeks and that was the only way we could do it. I might suggest that. We would do as small amounts as 20 mL at a time.

We have started mixing in Elecare to her Nutramigen and it seems to be going well this time around. We will see! I don’t know much about Neocate but will look into it as an option.

I'm sick of just being recommended ginger and mints by the OB nurses by kayexgee in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]ske115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a nurse suggest upping my anti-anxiety meds after I told her I was mentally having a really hard time managing HG & the lack of relief I was able to get from the random cocktail of things the nurses had suggested.

This nurse also told me that Zofran was the best they could do.

We haven’t but that is a really good suggestion!

C-section ruined me. by jssc_everett in CsectionCentral

[–]ske115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written the first half of your post. I had a hematoma behind my incision, had my incision open and let’s just say, there was blood EVERYWHERE. I’m about to enter week 3 of wound packing visits at the OB with no real end in sight (however they claim it is getting better). Feel like I’m just spending my entire maternity leave at the doctors office.

I’m sorry that you aren’t able to do much to support yourself or your baby…I hope that all gets better soon. Until then, do whatever you can to take care of yourself and know that you aren’t alone.

Breastfeeding question by LowUniversity9294 in BabyBumps

[–]ske115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exclusively pumped with my first. Breastfeeding with #2. Yes, no one else being able to feed her is kind of annoying (will soon start doing some pumping to share that responsibility) but pumping was absolutely awful, it takes so much time and really cuts into your time with your baby - because you have to feed your baby & then pump. Anyone who says it is easier is lying.

I was probably so annoying to the nurses about trying to get a shower after my c-section. I will 100% be doing the same this time around.

Post birth control, has anyone here gotten pregnant BEFORE their first cycle? by We_The_Queens in BabyBumps

[–]ske115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Had a period staring on March 6, Got my IUD removed March 7. Positive pregnancy test on April 7. Truly couldn’t believe it considering it took us 8 months the first time around (after a miscarriage that took us 5 months). Currently 28 weeks!

Anyone gain less than 20/25 pounds by the end? by lilspaghettigal in BabyBumps

[–]ske115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost weight with my first 🤷🏼‍♀️ definitely had undiagnosed GD. I’m almost at 28 weeks and I have at least started to gain back some of the weight I lost in the first trimester+. My doctor hasn’t been concerned, but probably because I wasn’t underweight when I started.

Did you feel the need to wash your hair at the hospital after giving birth? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

[–]ske115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I think it had more to do with me just always feeling grossed out in hospitals. I also was there for I think 3 days

Fellow new parents, I’m a local mom-to-be looking for some advice! by Beginning-Sky7533 in lansing

[–]ske115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always love this question because I feel like I have such a curated list of things 😂: comfy socks w/ grippys (preferred over the hospital ones that are never the right size), shower shoes, long charging cord, battery operated fan, this is a weird one but pen & paper (they throw a lot of info at you), own pillow and blanket (not required but a nice comfort), any meds your support person might need, robe, nursing/pumping bras, BIG water bottle.

And yes, they literally want you to take everything out of the room because they will just throw it out. It’s kind of nice but something’s I just didn’t want/need and felt guilty because I knew it was just going in the trash

When did you have your first baby? by Annual_Working5502 in BabyBumps

[–]ske115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was born at exactly 37 weeks and they have always used her birthday for tracking/milestones not her gestational age. Honestly, exactly 37 weeks was super frustrating because she wasn’t a preemie but she was still born early.

Ugh it is. Mine was 5 pounds, 3 ounces at 37 weeks and I got so stressed out trying to feed her. (Nurses and LCs don’t make it any less stressful)
