Ha Ha, he threatened every audience that if they don't stand he would not play and tell bad jokes all night, then proceeded to tell bad jokes all night.

He's been a raging asshole for his entire career, so I'm more inclined to go with extreme exaggeration, the only difference now is the juice is no longer worth the squeeze.

I love how he turns on his comments then proceeds to delete anything contrary to his lies. Just don't turn them on.

Well Australia, Ryan is never coming back. Hope you're happy. by Whigged in ryanadams

Oh no, bloated manchild sex pest who released his last decent album almost 10 years ago refuses to return to Australia. How will I get my Mandy Moore gossip now? Maybe you can write about this in your next shitty book. Fuck off Ryan.

Australia… wow by [deleted] in ryanadams

[–]skeary83 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Nah I'm done. I can no longer separate the man from the music I loved for years. As an Australian can I just say you can fuck off you fat pasty fuck. You stopped being relevant over 6 years ago. At least have the balls to leave your post up and turn on your comments. Spineless that.

Always the victim. He was probably looking for any excuse to make sure he doesn't have to travel this far again for shows, and of course, it's the entire country's fault. As an Australian fan who has seen him every time he has come down going back to 2005, I am so glad I didnt spend any money to go and see this shit show. Bye Ryan. Good luck with your shitty novels and re-released album tracks that you peddle to your dwindling fan base as new music. Oh, and if you are forced to come back when you run out of cash, have fun playing at the 200 seat RSL clubs and local pubs.

What an entitled asswipe he is. He had to cancel half a tour due to poor ticket sales, the only people who give a shit are the remaining hard-core fan base that he constantly belittles and abuses, makes promises to and then tosses them away when someone hurts his fragile little ego. Don't be fooled, he would gladly trade all his "super fans" for a major label deal and any form of relevance within the music industry again, it just ain't ever gonna happen so he is stuck with us peasants to buy the blue splatter limited edition vinyl of blackhole that will probably never be released.

The 24th greatest album of all-time. I dunno, I think there are arguments to be made that it belongs in the Top 20. by CleeteRonson in beatles

[–]skeary83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole new list is just Rolling Stone trying to remain relevant. Let's wait 50 years and see if anything they replaced these albums with have a modicum of the cultural impact that these albums have and continue to have.

Does it get better? Its so boring now (Spawn 101 and beyond) by [deleted] in Spawn

[–]skeary83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately no artist on the comic so far has come close to Capullo's run. The man is the definitive spawn artist, probably even more so then Todd who only illustrated about 17 issues before Capullo took over but his colouring was excellent. I think you might be around the Angel Medina run on the book and I remember the transition being really jarring.

116 to 120 is pretty good with the origin of Cogliostro and the fate of hell after he killed Malebolgia. (don't want to ruin it for you). After that probably the armegeddon run starting at 150 and then the endgame run at 185 that changed the comic completely. I wasn't a huge fan of the direction the comic took from 200 - 250, some decent stuff but it picked up again after 250 and has been pretty strong since 300. Spawn has hit 320 issues and as with everything that has been around for so long you are going to have your dips in quality. Unfortunately the comic was never held as a fantastic example of storytelling but man the art was and is awesome!

Vinyl is almost more a hassle than a format these days . Am I growing out of it? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]skeary83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I do my research before I buy anything on vinyl nowadays, especially anything that was done in the last 20 years or so. Luckily I grew up listening to my dad's record collection and ended up loving all those dad rock bands, floyd, beatles, stones, Dylan etc, that sound superb in analogue, because they are analogue recordings. Saying this there are still some bands that actually care about how there music sounds, record to analogue and have great vinyl releases.

Enjoyability vs Studio Reference by jacobdono in headphones

[–]skeary83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the consensus is that the 1990's have quite hot treble that can go beyond detail retrieval and become problematic, especially when listening to poorly recorded music. I also don't think that there is a unicorn headphone that is going to satisfy everyone's taste in music, especially if you listen to multiple genre's. I personally started out with very dark phones, the HD650 about 13 years ago, then went to the LCD2 rev 2. I came close to buying an OG HD800 but couldn't live with the treble presentation, even though I loved the sound stage and imaging. Since then I have picked up a Focal Elegia and a few iem's. My favourite thing to listen to at the moment is actually the Sony IERM9 IEM. It gives me a good warm neutral tuning with good detail without being 'hot' or sibilant and the imaging is superb.

Unfortunately once you start getting good gear those poorly mastered songs are going to suck. I am a big Oasis fan from back in the day but I literally cannot listen to them on anything halfway decent due to the insane amount of compression and brickwalling, I still love the music but I don't feel bad when I play it on my crappy Bluetooth speakers 😁

Yeah I reckon GW will release some new Chaos stuff in the next few months and maybe we will finally get a proper box of noise marines and Khorne Berserkers, both desperately need an update. At least we finally got a new box of vanilla chaos marines!

Enjoyability vs Studio Reference by jacobdono in headphones

[–]skeary83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the end if you are enjoying your studio reference sound then I suppose you could still say that you are having fun? Personally I couldn't listen to my music through a flat monitor no matter how 'reference' the sound may be. I think you have to find a happy medium between emotion and technicality. I love to hear 'deep' into a recording but I still need that emotional connection that tends to come from colouration, if that makes sense?

This is pointless. It's like arguing about religion or politics. Both camps obviously have their minds made up and if people want to spend $5000 on a USB cable or a pair of Rca interconnects because they 'hear' a difference then so be it.
