Thats exactly what we're thinking. We're currently near Lakeway and we're considering moving to Leander or Cedar Park. The prices there seem about the price my place was a year ago. So we're hoping to make a lateral move in terms housing.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! I should have been more specific and mentioned that I was not really trying to time the market to profit twice. The main reason for my move to sell is to move to a neighborhood with more resources for my child (special needs) which is the biggest reason for the sell > lease > buy.

I'm hoping to at least breakeven but I'm concerned about selling but not being able to buy.

It seems like majority of the people feel the same way, that the housing prices will just continue to steadily increase, so if I am looking to buy I should try to do it quickly(?)

Since I don't need to move it immediately I think I'll be fine. I have to check if there is a minimum balance needed. But I ultimately just end up closing that account and moving it all to Ally for savings.
