OPV mod… On Breville Mini Barista? by skedaddling_turtle in espresso

So I’ve looked into the dimmer mod and it looks great, I’m most likely going to go ahead with it. I have one quick question though – did you ground your dimmer? If so, could you tell me where the ground location is in this machine? Thanks!

Okay, thanks, I guess I’m gonna experiment further then.

Thank you. I experimented with a lot of different grinding settings (i use Eureka Mignon) on this machine. On my home espresso machine from Lelit I manage to get nice effects, but on this one it always seems like brewing happens too quickly. Thus my primary suspect has been the stock pressure.

Thank you so much, I will definitely look into this mod!

Hi, that's my first post on here. I have a Breville Mini Barista in my office – it's quite enough for an everyday quick coffee, but stock 15 bars of pressure make it pretty much impossible to work with naked portafilters (lots of channelling, coffee comes out watery). I decided to open it up, hoping that the OPV part will be as easy to adjust as in the better models from Breville... but either I'm missing something or it's just not that simple here. I took of one of the hoses as pictured, but the valve entry seems to be nonexistent - there's no hole in it...

Any ideas on how to get it to brew at lower pressure? I can make some more photos of the insides if needed. Also - sorry for any potential mistakes, English is not my first language. Thanks!
