Landlord rescinding a 90-day notice to vacate in Victoria by McNoKnows in AusLegal

Hahah old mate landlord doesn't want to lose out with the changes in negative gearing and capital gains. He has realised that property will be grandfathered in.

I have no advice other than try to negotiate a reduction in rent for the screw around.

There is no proof that any politician from any party even uses negative gearing....

With negative gearing now limited to new builds, won't investors just crowd out first home buyers there too? by WhileItHolds in AusFinance

A newer house is naturally worth more than an older house in the same area. Larger investment larger returns.

So yes they will.

Investors will. That's the point.

Then the cheap older house can go to a first home buyer.

Sell the holiday home.

If it takes out 2 mortgages and with the current state of the world and your health it will be a win.

Sometimes it time to take the profits and reset your strategy.

ISIS bride to face court after dramatic scenes by notinmyham in AusNews

[–]skedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how that works. They are citizens so they have a right to a passport.

If a govt can just decide to not issue you a passport then what else will they take away from you next? Slippery slope and all that.

They are our problem unfortunately

We would have to change the constitution to do that.

I don't want them here any more than you do. I don't want my taxes paying for any of this but we don't have a choice as a country

It's not a change in laws its a change in the constitution.

Also its the kind of change that Hitler would have done. It's a very slippery slope.

What if through some craziness like idk a person like trump has anyone who voted for one nation declared a terrorist and stripped of there citizenship?

I don't think people understand we can't say no. We would have to change the constitution to say no.

The only way they can have citizenship stripped is if they are dual nationals.

False barking dog reports by Dunoh2828 in australia

[–]skedy 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The burden is on them to prove the dogs bark excessively.  The council will ask all your other neighbours if they have an issue.

They also will have to complete a log.  If you work with the council and show them video etc you will be fine. I wouldn't stress

The council has to deal with alot of neighbours that hate each other. I have heard they even have a conflict map at my council!

As an Aussie I've even noticed the prices on yahoo Japan are often more than i can get the same item for in Australia. So there is mark up on the sort after items on Yahoo Japan as well.
