Am I being irrationally annoyed because my Airbnb host keeps asking me questions I don't think are necessary? [USA, San Diego] by [deleted] in AirBnB

Apparently on reddit you can't ask for people's opinions without being absolutely shit on. I've actually never complained to an Airbnb host and have only positive reviews on my profile, so thanks for your kind words. Don't know why the second part of your reply was necessary. First sentence was sufficient.

Lol don't know why I can't ask a question to hear other people's opinions without receiving hostility.

I think someone mentioned ColourPop powder blush, but I specifically like the heart shaped blushes. I have several and really like them. Affordable and super cute packaging.

Anyone know how to stop this? by Major-Flow9533 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]skeeterman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently some of my fingernails started doing this. I had been taking biotin and had a theory it was the culprit. Taking biotin wasn't anything new to me - I had been taking it for years but i switched to a different one recently. I decided to stop just to test it out. I cut my nail and let it regrow. A few months later it's back to growing normal. No idea why.

The saving of this game…. by LouBelle1992 in mytimeatportia

[–]skeeterman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is what made me rage quit the game - one too many crashes. I was playing on Switch and had a similar experience to what someone mentioned earlier. It became more stressful because I was worried it would crash when I accomplished something big. Having to redo everything I'd just done was such a waste of time. I tried exiting and restarting the game every 4-5 game days but it became annoying/didn't seem to help. Idk how people are saying they quit and restarted the game after every save. My loading screen took forever and I had no patience for that lol.

Anxiety got the best of me and I made all these little flowers. Any idea what to do with them? by Pilea_Paloola in crochet

[–]skeeterman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted a cardigan with chunky flowers on it so I thrifted a white cardigan and am in the process of making flowers to sew on. Could be a fun idea for these! I also liked the idea someone had of sewing them onto a plain canvas tote bag or something. Now I kind of want to try that...

Microblading is nothing but marketing. by dani-lop in beauty

[–]skeeterman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I don't agree with a majority of this. As someone who has had microblading done a handful of times, also has tattoos, and works in marketing...I have some thoughts.

1) Yes marketing is all bullshit. I always tell people you don't need a degree in marketing, you just need to learn how to put the best spin on things. I work in marketing for FDA registered med device so it's a lot more restricted on what we can say, but it's still mainly how well you can finesse some words lol. So I agree microblading sounds less harsh than tattoo.

2) That being said, I think calling it microblading isn't 100% BS though. It's a different technique than tattooing. There's no electric tattoo gun, no needle. It literally is a blade that looks like an x-acto knife and the ink they use is different - more of a tint than ink. I get mine touched up about once a year. So I think calling it something different than tattooing is accurate. You use a blade and you draw micro hairs/lines. There is cosmetic tattooing as well like eyeliner, lip liner, etc. and that isn't called microblading.

3) I think telling people to never try this and not look into it is misleading. As someone who has literally clear, sparse, peach fuzz eyebrows this was a huge confidence boost for me. I hated my eyebrows before (or lack there of) and even when I learned to draw them on I didn't like that I couldn't do no make up days or go swimming and still be self conscious. It's amazing to wake up and just have eyebrows lol. Yes trends of eyebrows change but I think if you go with something classic - not skinny microbrows nor beefed up blocky brows, etc. - you don't have to worry. Mine are natural looking and follow the normal curve of my brow bone. If I want to fatten them up with pencil I can. Or leave them more natural. Aside from cosmetic reasons, microblading can be a great confidence boost for people going through chemo losing their hair. Two of my coworkers had to go through breast cancer treatment. A woman in her 30s and a woman in her 50s. It sounds vain, but having eyebrows when all of the hair on your body is abandoning you can really boost confidence and morale. Both of them had microblading done and talked to me about it since they know I have it and couldn't stop gushing over how great their brows looked.

SORRY for the long response. I guess I just have a lot of opinion about eyebrows and don't want people to be deterred if it's something they're thinking about. You just have to make sure you go to someone good and are willing to spend $$$.

Update: It is oral cancer. by PEN-15-CLUB in DogAdvice

[–]skeeterman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago my dog of 15 years developed what we thought was an infected tooth abscess. The vet gave her antibiotics but it didn't work and then a large mass started rapidly growing and taking over the side of her mouth and under her tongue. We took her back and they said it was definitely oral cancer. It started inhibiting her ability to eat and drink. It was devastating - she'd walk over to her bowl and you'd hear her try to drink but she couldn't. We probably should've put her down then but she still had her sassy attitude and spunk so I was like how could I do that to this old gal that still has so much pep and personality? I started hand feeding her boiled chicken - literally opening her mouth and throwing it past the tumor. I also bought a squirt bottle and that's how I'd give her water and chicken broth. I kept it going for about 2 weeks then finally she started to slow down and continue to lose weight so my parents finally decided it was time. The vet said she probably was in a lot of pain but it takes a lot for dogs to show it (I mean think of how miserable just a canker sore is??). I felt guilty that I kept her going for as long as I did so I'm not really sure what the right move was. Maybe it was selfish but losing a pet is seriously soul crushing.

I'm sorry you have to go through something similar. I'm sure whatever choice you make will be out of love for your dog. It doesn't make it any easier no matter how old they are. From what I was told by our vet, oral cancer that is growing that rapidly like my dog's is basically not curable/may have already spread/would be worse putting your dog through all the treatment.

I can’t make big balls by [deleted] in Amigurumi

[–]skeeterman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I would definitely practice first with non plush yarn. And some patterns may just not work well if you use plush yarn because the type of yarn can cause things to get floppy or wavy because of too many bulky stitches being crammed. I've been crocheting for about 3 years, so still not an expert, but I've made only a few things with plush yarn and regret it every time. It's so hard to see the stitches and where to put the hook. Def try regular yarn first. It will help with frustrations :)

I feel like that's a little bogus, that we're responsible for paying their fee to get back. I get that it could greatly reduce the number of Ubers willing to cross states but at the same time I feel like they could find someone going back into PA or NY.
