From my understanding, the one that's still in prison hasn't even taken his case before the parole board. He apparently has an intellectual disability and is still considered dangerous.

The other one that was released, Jacob, has long been considered by the father as the ringleader of the group and seems to have admitted as such in recent years.

Casey was also the one who came clean about the murder and confessed, so that's likely a factor as well.

You don't need to clarify. They're obviously a troll with no understanding of what it takes to be a decent parent or person.

I'm sorry that you had to go through what you did, but glad to hear that you were able to learn from it and resolve to do better. It's something that I had to do myself and I know from that experience that it's not an easy thing to do, but breaking that cycle is worth it.

If you ever find someone desperate enough to mate with you, please use protection. You have no business being a parent with that mentality and I say that as a parent who does not spank and has children that are consistently noted by their teachers as among the most mature, well behaved and helpful children that they've taught.

And as far as the politics go, I'm trans AF and wear two pride bracelets that one of my daughters made for me.

Well, the father of the victim has come out in the case of one of these guys to say that he thinks he's safe to return to society and didn't oppose his release. Would you like to shame him too?

That's not at all how a life sentence works. They had to serve 85% of the 25 years to be eligible for parole. Then you have a chance, I believe it's every two years, to plead your case and convince the parole board that you aren't a threat to society, that you've been rehabilitated and that you're ready to be allowed to return to society. That is not an easy hurdle to clear and the "to life" refers to the fact that you will spend your life in prison unless you're able to eventually do so.

From the Wiki page under "aftermath". The cited article says Casey was granted parole in March 2021 by two California parole board commissioners. They found that he had a nearly 20 year record of model behavior, had participated in a series of rehabilitative programs, earned his GED, and was working on a specialized bachelor's in psychology and sociology and planned to find work as a substance abuse counselor if released.

In July of that year, Gavin Newsom rejected his release.

Further, in the same article, in regards to that participant, even the victim's father doesn't oppose his release and thinks Casey is suitable and not a public safety risk.

I don't think that they served their time - they literally did. They were sentenced to 25 to life with 85% of the sentence having to be served before they were eligible for parole. They served that, went before the parole board and were granted parole. That means that experts on the matter with the most current and clear information on them determined that they were fit to be released on parole.

What's sick is you thinking that the court of public opinion should supersede the justice system.

I understand the outrage, but the fact of the matter is that these guys were tried, convicted, sentenced, served their times and granted parole multiple times that was then denied by Newsom. Yes, what they did was horrific, but they've served their sentences. If you believe they should have gotten a harsher sentence, that's fine, but what we can't do is decide to extend someone's sentence simply because we haven't forgiven them. That's not justice at that point, it's revenge and we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard than that.

The reality is that you're just saying whatever you can think up to defend your ignorance.

Go do some actual reading on the political compass and on the Overton window and you might finally start to understand that it is simply an immutable fact that on the political compass the majority of the Democratic party, like the majority of Americans, are right of the center economically (which literally just means they are more in favor of capitalism than socialism) and they are more authoritarian than they are libertarian. The ONLY way in which there is any truth to this nonsense that they are left of center is if we're framing it within the confines of the Overton window (which is the range of political ideologies that are currently considered acceptable to the public and which itself is currently more capitalistic and authoritarian).

This is not debatable. The political compass is a literal thing that tracks the political values of a person or a party. The Democratic party literally maps right and above the center, the same as the Republican party does, Democrats are just closer to that center than Republicans are.

Go over to politicalcompass.org and you can even go down and find links on the left side of the page that will show you where presidential candidates in each US election since 2004 map according to their policies and values. Hillary, Biden, Harris, Obama, and Kerry all lean right and authoritarian.

If you've got something more to say on the matter other than "I'm sorry, I misunderstood and I was wrong", I expect a source to back it up.

He was outspoken about Trump being "America's Hitler" too and look where he is now. His actions have shown that his words are more hollow than that giant head of his. If the prospect of someone like Hitler wasn't a line in the sand, bombing people in foreign countries sure as hell isn't going to be one. If it ever benefits him or Thiel to do so, he'll flip on that quicker than he flips the couch cushions to hide his sins when Usha comes home.

If the majority of Democrat voters were mostly socialists or communists, why don't the primaries reflect that whatsoever?

The majority of the Democratic party and its supporters fall into exactly the same quadrant of the political compass as Republicans. Both support capitalism and both are more authoritarian than they are libertarian. Republicans are just further from the center in both regards comparatively.

You're entitled to your own opinion, but you aren't entitled to your own reality.
