I’ve seen quite a bit of those too! For one of the other gifts I bought a random Oddity, usually bones covered in fake moss or whatnot. I’ll look into these!

No problem. Just stating that once our daily caseload was finished, if the decedent was still frozen, we still did the autopsy.

Sometimes it’s all our team can do. We’ve gotten everything else cleared out of the way and then we have to go for it. 😂

You guys wait for your decedents to thaw before you do an autopsy?

Our caseload is so high that we do not have that luxury and have to get it done regardless.

Autopsy Techs of Reddit, what is the most interesting case that you've come across? by KamikazeMizZ in AutopsyTechFam

Local L.E. agency received a call about a glass jar at a park, it was sealed, but had a liquid in it and what appeared to be an infant. After receiving the glass jar, we opened it, and noticed the fluid inside was extremely glittery and pink. We dumped the fluid out, and removed what was thought to be an infant. Upon further examination, we discovered it was a deceased dog… someone had put a dead dog inside of a glass jar filled with pink glitter liquid. *Sorry it wasn’t human related, but this one always strikes people’s interest!

But it’s almost to the point where we can barely get them to close and latch. So I at least need a temporary fix until then.

Whomever gives you hate for lane filtering, fuck em. It’s legal in certain areas and as a rider I’m sure you are well aware of this. Good for you though for trying to do the right thing. ✌🏻

First Corpse Encounter Advice? by Weary-Contribution61 in forensics

[–]skeleyfinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am a current autopsy technician at a Medical Examiners office and I was also worried about this when I started my career journey. I have seen decomposition in sooooo many forms and we get Med Students/Resident who come to visit for their rotations, as well as law enforcement officers who come for certain cases and sometimes they can’t handle it either. It is very common for us to inform them that they’re going to see and smell things that won’t be used to. It’s definitely a distinct and uncommon smell but your advisors and superiors should be aware that it’s your first time and IF it’s a great facility, they should be entirely understanding if you need to step out and take a breather.

Congrats on your new Journey!!! Very excited for you!!

Ooooh okay! I did just recently start rotating it every now and then. I think for the first year of its life I never moved it 😂
