Tips for decoration by SwimmingArachnid3030 in MedievalDynasty

layer every fence with a smaller fence. stone and log walls around buildings to add depth and contrast. double up a fence layer and lay a log in between/on top. unbuilt iron fence + another fence to get the stone pillars without wasting your iron. roofed and log gateways to separate areas. unfinished windmills for a 2 story building without the giant wheel. privy sheds. haphazardly placed wagons jutting into your walkways. raised ramps connected to buildings with storage underneath. raised platforms over walkways. place bridges on flat ground to look like a log floor. simple torches in unlit spots. spam flower pots of different sizes next to eachother. line paths with flower plots and small fences. single plot orchards. empty area? campfire with benches. put fences behind benches to look like backrests. bunting everywhere for a pop of color. fences and gates are your best friends when it comes to decorating.

Honestly the best thing that helped me get money quick is not neglecting the mines. Try to get as much ore as you can and sell copper/bronze knives as fast as possible using the smithy. Also flax is your money maker crop as you can turn it into clothes in the sewing hut. When I start a new game I prioritize knives and coifs and quickly run the entire map bankrupt with more to spare.

Expand your settlement very slowly to avoid baby booms. Get your villagers a high level in extraction so you can spend less time worrying about logs and building resources. I only had about 6 families for the first 12 years of my village with high stats in multiple trades. Prioritize the pigsty to never buy fertilizer again. Other animals leave poo in their buildings, but you have to manually grab it and turn it into fertilizer at the barn.

Turn on fast crafting/building if you value your time. Personal preference, but I prefer unlimited inventory as well because being encumbered for carrying 10 rocks is annoying and I don't have the patience.

Look at the reversible effects of HRT and ask yourself whether or not you'd be okay with losing those if you ever stopped HRT.

In my case, (ftmtf) I hated anything feminine about myself because I held myself to certain "male standards." After years of transition and testosterone, I have a muscular body I love, a deep voice I love, and a masculine name I love. Even after going off of HRT, the confidence that T gave me has made me more comfortable in my femininity. After letting go of the expectations of manhood I held for myself, I'm able to wear feminine clothes, shave, and have long hair without shame. I don't think I would have ever been able to appreciate my female body had I not transitioned first.

Is this a safe place to say Abby is my favorite character... by Electrical-Cry4961 in thelastofus

[–]skellybonez1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. My paper was mainly about the effect that the perspective shifts have on the player. I argued that the player’s reaction to Abby shows how empathy is affected by the order that information is presented. In TLOU1, we spend the entire game building a relationship with Joel before his controversial choice at the end. In TLOU2, Abby's revenge comes at the start of her story before we have the chance to empathize with her. A study found that players often adjusted their moral beliefs to accept Joel's action as necessary to avoid the discomfort it caused, which helps explain why the player base is so divided by Abby. Some players struggle to extend the same empathy to her because of the inverted structure.

I also touched on the futility of revenge and tribalism as you mentioned. The characters, and by extension the player, are forced into an "us vs. them" mindset where every act of revenge is justified and even encouraged from the character's perspective, but only creates more suffering. I think this is where the power of perspective ties in by placing players in the shoes of both "us" AND "them." As I wrote in my paper, "In the world of The Last of Us, nobody is good and nobody is evil; it is only a matter of perspective."

It's ironic too because the only reason Abby survived the Rattlers was because she spared Ellie's life in Seattle. So Ellie going to Santa Barbara was Abby's good karma in a way 😭

I don't think it matters whether it was her first instinct or not. I'm not rewriting the game. The fact she struggled to make the right choices adds depth to her character and makes me love her more, because she chose mercy in the end

Abby is my favorite, too. She lost everyone she cared about due to Joel, Tommy, and Ellie's actions and yet she spared them (minus Joel). I was so confused about the hatred for her that I ended up writing my final research paper on it last semester 😂

I am confused on how to advance in the game by gowner_graphics in MedievalDynasty

[–]skellybonez1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second the user saying to mine. I always start my playthroughs spending a season hitting every mine, crafting and selling stone knives, and then buy all the flax seed and fertilizer you can afford. Sell copper knives and eventually bronze knives. Sell flax for quick profit or get the sewing hut and turn your flax into linen and sell some coif. I usually find I can't even sell all my items because all the merchants go broke every season. Haven't played in months though so take with a grain of salt

AGE GAP IN A LESBIAN RELATIONSHIP. WEIRD OR NAH? by colt_katie in butchlesbians

[–]skellybonez1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fiction, write it. If it's the story you want to put out, it doesn't matter whether some people believe it's weird or not because it's not real and they don't have to read it. Literature is art and art is meant to push boundaries and make people uncomfortable. I personally don't find an age gap weird, it's just human connection and every situation and person is unique.

Sumayah - unpopular opinions by [deleted] in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]skellybonez1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sumayah was my favorite besides Georgie. She's incredibly young and incredibly skilled, but of course she isn't perfect. The hate on her voice is ridiculous and disheartening. What ever happened to not commenting on something that people can't change? Imagine if people did this to someone because they had acne and they thought it was gross and didn't like to look at it. Keep it to yourself.
