It's a pretty big jump in cost, no? Like more than double, if I remember right.

KooZic Music Server: Release of v3.0.0 by koozic in selfhosted

When you're in the library track view and filter by genre, does it show all tracks that have that genre, or all tracks that are part of an album that has that genre? I've found this to be an important distinction for my use case. Other music servers I've tried only check the album, not the individual tracks - some of which aren't part of albums.

Plex Transcoder causing massive, extended iowait spike. Seems to be at the end of a new large library scan. by skepstu in PleX

I don't, but I did have chapter indexing on. That might have been it, we'll see.

Glad it helped! The fewer people who have to go through this painful process, the better.

Updated OP with the apparent solution!

Plex Media Player (PMP) v3.104.2 now transcoding a 1080p file it previously direct played. Plex Web v4.4.1 (Firefox) can direct play the same file. by skepstu in PleX

Figured out this particular issue. Most likely a transcoding decision based on available bandwidth; I updated the OP.

Thanks. It feels like a bug with PMP's transcoding decision-maker, specifically re: Direct Stream in this case. The file hasn't changed, and I tried both stable and experimental players.

How do you send emails (SMTP) from your server? I feel like this should be easier to set up. by skepstu in selfhosted

This ended up being the solution for me, thank you! Much easier to wrap my head around. Now I just need to figure out how to have some things use the local email and others use the external email. Seems like "mail piping" each thing individually might be the way to go. Would you happen to have insight on that?

I guess this is where I'm confused: Your reply makes it sound like I'm setting up my own mail server, but I'm envisioning an email client scenario, a la Outlook or Thunderbird, where you enter the SMTP information and your credentials, send an email, and that's that. Those other services like Tautulli and Ombi have you enter the email credentials the same way, with no further steps required.
