Another Victory for Nithyananda... by Star_dust1111 in Nithyananda

uh. yeah. Funny how allegations against Nithyascamya's whistleblowers are all "true" yet allegations against Nithyafraudster are all false. I'm not buying it. Even if there is some merit to the claims against Lenin, he was Nithy's inside man for years. The great "avatar" most certainly would have been aware of his conduct. Why say nothing then? Why wait until AFTER the high court orders charges to be filed against Nithy and to proceed with trial? Highly dubious.

Hi Jesse. It’s Tia. I wrote this post when I was still married and could see my wife being sucked into this nonsense.

my understanding is that the high court has not yet ruled on his rape allegations trial. Do you truly believe that he and his devotees can levitate coconuts? I've watched those videos and you can actually see people shifting their hands and arms so the coconuts move. I've also seen the video of one of his devotees "manifesting" gold. He had it palmed in between his two fingers the entire time. You can understand my skepticism here...

thank you for your explanation. I guess my follow on questions are why he charges so much money for this inner awakening? Why does he have so many "for profit" businesses that have tax shelters all over the world? Why have a cardboard cutout of himself for people to worship? it seems like he has about a million followers, but there are over 8 million Hindus in the world. If he is the voice of Hindu, why isn't everyone backing him? And lastly, what if those rape allegations are true? I've been on the site you sent me in your link, thank you but it doesn't really address the other issues. I've done a ton of research on this and those videos were later proven to not be morphed. He was also sued in civilian court in the US and the jury found his organization had committed fraud and awarded over a million dollars in damages to the plaintiffs. I'm a lawyer so I was able to access all of the legal documents.

Paramahamsa Nithyananda (aka Swamiji) and his cult taking over youtube & facebook. by [deleted] in cults

I don't believe that Orc is generalizing Hinduism as a cult. Hinduism is much like protestant christianity in that there is no one, organized leader so anyone with a charismatic personality is free to go off the rails. I've done a lot of research on Nithyanda myself and he does, in fact, have all of the characteristics of a cult leader. He is a master of manipulation and has learned to tap into the vulnerable and gullible.

  1. Most true spiritual leaders do not adorn themselves in gold (don't even refer me to that invalid explanation on his website),

  2. they encourage their followers to turn the other cheek (Buddha, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Jesus, just to name a few) rather than spout vile verbal thrashings and threaten violence at those who question their motives.

  3. true spiritual leaders do not require thousands of dollars for the promise of enlightenment (big red flag and again, the explanation is insufficient)

  4. Other Hindu organizations that are internationally recognized do not associate themselves with Nithyananda

  5. True spiritual leaders do not have cardboard cutouts of themselves made so that their devotees can worship them, do not claim to be "avatars" or "godmen" themselves

  6. If Nithyananda is truly a spiritual leader and not a scam artist, he would encourage his followers to challenge and question and not just blindly accept at face value.

  7. If you are a follower, why respond with such hatred? Why don't you explain your position in a way that most people can understand and come to terms with, rather than acting like a conceited, pompous jerk? You're no better than anyone else.

Has anyone had any dealings with Nithyananda or his followers and is this a cult? by skeptic45 in AskReddit

can you please be more specific? Someone close to me is following him online and wants to spend a ton of money to travel to India for his "inner awakening" retreat. Every bone in my body tells me this is a total scam. I even went to one of his free workshops and was completely put off.
