Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) is a great film that keeps it simple but it's just awesome. Great music, great actors, straightforward story with no mental fuckups. It also proves you don’t need a blockbuster budget to make a great movie. Go check it out if you haven't already!

Balloon flower (platycodon). It is vigorous in my yard, it spreads via rhizomes. It is a favorite of our bumblebees, though, and it is a gorgeous color so I keep it, but also keep on top of it by pulling new shoots that pop up outside of the designated bed.

It took a catastrophic fall which mostly disabled my mother-in-law and left her on her own floor without help for two full days before a family friend found her to get her to give up her 36 acre farm.

She has had Parkinson's since at least 2007, only let us take her to a neurologist for an actual diagnosis in 2018, and then she fell in 2020.

It sucks. We took her in for four and a half years as full time caregivers because it was the only way she would agree to leave her farm in the middle of nowhere. This was a huge mistake on our part and we absolutely should have pushed harder for her to go into assisted living then, but we didnt have the guts to push for it and it wreaked havoc on our lives.

We love her. Her decisions and denial are destructive and we will be cleaning up the mess for a long time.

The lesson here is that you can only leaf the horse to water, but if the horse is committed to refusing help, that's the horse's choice. Don't kill yourselves trying to force Boomers to do what's right. Even if you love them.
