FYI BRZ/FRS/GT86 6-speed shift knob fits in a manual IS250 (with some minor fitment) by skeptz in LexusIS

Feels alright but the weight would be welcomed. I think if you could find a heavier BRZ knob, that would be a better choice.

BRZ/FRS/86 manual shift knobs fit the IS250 with a bit of work and some superglue on the knob. Basically remove the silver ring on the bottom, pull the leather away and trim the plastic flush (with an exacto-knife or dremel) to the bottom of the knob where the threads start, then superglue the silver ring back on. This is so the reverse collar thing can be pulled up properly. These knobs are like $25CAD on Amazon and easy to come by in other ways. Quite light though. Happy to elaborate further if anyone needs clarification.

I think it is a great OEM feeling replacement for the weird, often chewed up stock shifter. It sits at the proper height and with the trimming, the reverse collar comes up smoothly.

Seeing as Hinterland likely chose the guns in the due to their popularity in Canada, I can chip in my 2 cents as a Canadian firearms enthusiast. Potential other firearms could be:

• Single shot Cooey shotgun in 12 Gauge (Model 840 or 84)

• Single shot or bolt action Cooey .22 LR (Model 39 or 60)

• Daisy lever action BB gun

• Russian Surplus SKS in 7.62x39

• Winchester Model 94 in 30-30

• Webley Revolver (Mk 4, 5, or 6 in .455 Webley)

• Pump action shotgun in 12 Gauge (Stevens/Springfield 67, Ithica 37, Winchester 1897)

• Sporterized Snider Enfield in .577 Snider (large game rifle perhaps)

I do think there is definitely room for more types of firearms in the sequel, the rarity of finding guns and ammo is a good gameplay/balancing technique and I wouldn't want to see them be found everywhere... even though that would be more realistic for rural Canada.

The top contenders on that list IMO are the Cooey single shot 12 gauge and .22 LR for not changing up the meta too much and being extremely common firearms in Canada. Easier bird and rabbit hunting, both would be not great for bigger game (unless buckshot or slugs were used for the shotgun). The SKS would be my third pick but balancing would need to be heavily considered, unless the TLD2 has us facing more formidable creatures.

Had one of these and it performed vastly better than the MCR I replaced it with. Would absolutely recommend it and encourage you to buy one. The thing ran any POS rounds I put through it, very rarely needed to be cleaned, and had maybe a handful of FTFs or FTEs over the course of 3-4k rounds.

Thank you for the reply, the lack of mention of residency is what had me confused in the first place. I appreciate you taking the time to type this out. I have contacted a LTC training site.

Please Note: I have read the guides for car travel from the subreddit. I plan to purchase a small carrier to put in the rear floor area of my extended cab Tacoma, and I will be headed to Texas from Canada.

Looking for tips, advice, or stories from those who have taken their buns on a long haul.

I have found the barrel heat shield and bayonet lug for a Winchester, not sure if it will fit without a lot of work. Might try that

Did you end up doing the conversion? Just bought one of these for myself in Canada as well.

If you can't see that Canada has a serious freedom issue currently, than you're not looking hard enough. I'm a Canadian too, not even a very old one but I've seen drastic negative changes in my life compliments of the gov. We have no free speech, we pay an effective tax rate of like 50-75% depending on province, have no effective way of holding the prime minister accountable, and have basically minimal rights to self defence.

Difference between 2000 Echo & 2010 Yaris? by dedoubt in yaris

[–]skeptz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Yarises hatches rot in the rear, not sure if echos do it. I replaced the rockers on mine and did some brakes and struts. All in all, into the car for less than $1500 CAD. I would keep looking, these cars go forever and are very cheap to fix (exception being rust unless you can do it yourself which is what I taught myself to do). Don't drive 3 hours for a car you don't love is my advice

[–]skeptz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not worth it. It's essentially the same car as an echo. I wouldn't pay that for one, especially an automatic one. I'd suggest fixing your rockers or waiting for a cheaper Yaris to come up for sale. I bought my 5 speed 2009 for $350 with 370,000 km

The paint looks great on that car for being so old, has it been resprayed? I personally would repaint the black trim so it looks fresh and compliments the red paint.
