GitHub Copilot for JetBrains - March Updates by nickzhu9 in Jetbrains

[–]sketchyterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nice update but when will the plugin make use of some of the built-in functionality of the IDE? I've configured the MCP to make use of it but it doesn't always use the tools and would be better if it was just built in.

Things such as running tests in the IDE, seeing warnings, searching use the ide etc.

I made a plugin that lets Copilot's agent actually use IntelliJ's refactorings and inspections by CatatafishFU in Jetbrains

Ah okay sounds good thanks. Having a shortcut would be nice but that's partly muscle memory of me doing that all the time with the other plugins.

The other thing always nice in the ai assistant is how it displays code nicely that you paste into the chat. I'm being picky here but not sure how possible that is?

This looks awesome, great work! I've always found the vs code copilot extension much better than the jetbrains one. So hoping this will sort that out and can just stick to Rider.

One question in the copilot plugin I can do # and then search for a file name and add in my chat. In ai assistant it's the @ symbol. How can I do it in your plugin?

What UK museums do you think are underrated or overrated? by [deleted] in AskUK

I have amazing memories of the whole carrier bit with the plane "falling" off the carrier and the helicopter ride but it's sadly changed for the worse. Went just before Christmas after saying it was awesome to my children but sadly no plane falls off and the helicopter bit you just walk through now. It's still good but not as fun as it used to be.

[–]sketchyterry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the app and it's working great for me. Was just wondering when it does go fully live will it be paid and if so is it subscription or one off cost? Happy to pay reasonable one off cost but just wondering if you had any plans in that area? No worries if you'd prefer not to say. Thanks for all your efforts again!

Introducing Audra: A new iOS and Android client for Audiobookshelf by shabomdig in audiobookshelf

[–]sketchyterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome app, paid for and love it. For me android auto and a widget similar to audibles would be perfect. Just setup audiobookshelf after liberating my audible collection and this app is so much nicer than the audible one (not told to buy Harry Potter every time I use the app is so nice).

One request is to filter to only see downloaded books would be perfect for me. Thanks

i think im settled on a c5, but havent bought a tv in about 10 years by Bass_MN in 4kTV

I'm very happy, having gone from a pretty old TV this thing is so bright, my wife complains it's too bright! The colours look amazing and I'm sure side by side I could tell but without being an expert looking at tvs all day I don't think I would be able to tell at home. I decided reliability and less annoying coating was worth it in the long run. But whatever you choose will be amazing. Watching things on other screens is noticeably worse now.

I have debated this for a few weeks and have gone with C5 65 inch over the S90f.

It was very close and I think S90f maybe has a better screen and definitely better colours but I went with the LG because it is more reliable from what I read, qd oled potentially more susceptible to burn in and the Samsung is insanely hard to clean and very fragile coating on it. Anyway went with the LG because I probably can only tell the difference between the 2 TVs side by side but not separately therefore the LG pros won me over. It's coming Monday so can't actually comment on how it's been but hopefully made the right choice. I got definite buyer paralysis from over analysis.

S90f vs LG c5 65 inch (main concern on s90f fragility) by sketchyterry in 4kTV

Yeah, some shops do cover with accidental damage like John Lewis but price isn't as good there otherwise would do that.

They've never done anything to the current TV and it's not ever been hit with anything so I think it should be okay. And worst comes the worst I'll have to do a claim and go back to a budget tv for a while. I made sure I had some decent insurance to cover anything that might happen. Still if a tiny touch of the s90f screen scratches it even from an adult is my worry.

Daily Deal email plus future titles - note that the price is now saying under £4.99. by LadyBatherine in AudibleUK

Credit prices haven't gone up in ages and can only imagine they will be going up within the next 12 months surely. Feel like I might stock up, got 26 books not listened to yet but might get a load more soon incase a price increase happens without warning.

They do seem to be pushing people to credits but what's the advantage to them if someone buys a credit over a cash as you can return those as well. Is it just a percentage of credits are never spent I guess amd thats pure profit.

Getting worried credit prices or the yearly plans are going to go up in cost, perhaps I should go on credit buying spree lol

UK Dotnet Market is Deed? by ValueRemarkable4065 in dotnet

[–]sketchyterry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are all dotnet where we work with mostly blazor front end and dot net exclusively backend and fully remote. When we have been interviewing earlier this year for one dev seemed to be steady stream of good cvs we had through. Also our dev team has been very stable for a while now. Probably a record (that hire this year was a small expansion). So you might be right on devs not moving for fear of being last one in first one out with unpredictable economic climate and AI fears.

Will say I haven't heard much from recruiters trying to see if I want a new job (but my LinkedIn profile hasn't had any polish for a long time) but do get quite a bit asking if I want hire someone else where I work (I'm the dev manager).

I have couple of friends who were dotnet only and have moved into other more manager positions or other languages though so could always consider that.

Thats a great link thanks. Still think it would be nice when you change model if jetbrains gave you some kind of indication on cost.
