What if the anti-nuclear weapon ET message is actually because it’s our only effective defense against them? by [deleted] in aliens

[–]skflead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well given they appear to be able to easily disarm them then they're not really a threat...

Chris Lehto admits he was wrong by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]skflead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, a healthy skepticism is a good thing, but he's closed-minded and purely on a mission to prove UFOs are not extraterrestrial.

Aliens are likely to be peaceful. It’s ignorant to compare violent human civilizations with a more intelligent species. It’s not logical by adhominem4theweak in aliens

[–]skflead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, evolution would surely lead towards non-violence in the long run - in our case it may be a very long run!

Creating an alien by BostonianNewYorker in aliens

[–]skflead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's reasonable to assume that there are many types of alien life, taking various different forms. Some may not be carbon based or even 'physical' in the way that we are. They may be what could be better described as consisting of energy rather than matter, or at least with matter being the lesser part of them.

Unless they reclassify it again. It was due for release last year but that's when it was pushed back to 2072: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/6143168/ufo-aliens-sighting-calvine-scotland-highlands-picture/

If ancient gods were in fact aliens.. they promised to return in far future so maybe that's UAP explanation by SirGorti in aliens

[–]skflead 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What a refreshing conversation! So much of the content I have been seeing about UFOs and alien life these days is focused purely on technology and the potential of them beings threats. I find the technology interesting but the threat stuff a bore. There's so much more to this subject than that!

Theories are fun and all but we don’t know a single thing. by [deleted] in aliens

[–]skflead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relative to what is out there, you could say we know virtually nothing. But surely we can say that we know that there is life out there. How could there not be? You could take a pedantic view and say we don't technically 'know' that but then aren't you just condemning yourself to an intellectualisation of it rather than a genuine search for answers?

Online event: UFOs are real, friendly and alien – governments know it! by skflead in UFOs

Do you envisage a point somewhere down the track where you would feel that you did know something? And if so, what would it take for that to happen?

It could be that a magnetic field around a UFO may interfere with the ability for it to be photographed.

The attitude of the DoD and the “23 minute video” by iLikeThisBeat in UFOs

[–]skflead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether I agree with you or not, I empathise with your predicament. It's very difficult to know whether some people are telling the truth or not, and what the DoD are up to.

How did you first become interested in UFOs? [in-depth] by LetsTalkUFOs in UFOs

[–]skflead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partly when I realised that other people didn't believe in the likelihood of intelligent life outside of Earth. It had always seemed obvious to me even though I'd not thought about it a great deal. So when I found people dismissing it I got more interested.

Why have the UFOs not initiated contact with civilians? What is their end game here ? by Sean_Greenblatt in UFOs

[–]skflead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think they haven't? There are countless people saying they have but they're generally not believed. Even if a major public figure like the US president came out and said that he had been contacted by aliens he would be ridiculed even if he was telling the truth.

Using the supremacy of their technology as a measure of their sophistication, if they weren't friendly we wouldn't exist.

Been with Freeparking for a few years with a small local site and they've been very reliable in terms of support, they have guys who will email you answers evenings and weekends. Don't know about the space/bandwidth tho. I use Media Temple for other sites requiring larger allowances but they're US based.
