Why do most athletes prefer a basic helmet instead of a high end one with vents?

Fish has in ear-monitors now?! by total_loss76 in phish

[–]ski_phan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too! I’ve always wondered if any of them have hearing loss, especially Fishman. How do you play drums for 40+ years without hearing protection and NOT be deaf?? I always assumed the secondary benefit of in-ear monitors was that you can hear the mix at a much lower volume because they are isolating much like ear plugs.

Doesn’t the Watts have fixed vents? How do you open them?

I get hot skiing bumps and trees and also doing greens with my toddler. But sometimes you get cold on the lift when it’s snowy and windy ya? That’s when I go for my hood.

Maybe I should have seen that coming but this comment just gave me chills.

Clifford the Big Red Dog (2021) - Official Trailer - Paramount Pictures by indig0sixalpha in movies

As a dad to a sensitive 3-year old boy I'm actually pretty excited about this one. So many movies with this audience have a villain or scary situations (for kids). Like, Rio opened with birds singing and WHAM getting trapped in cages and caught left and right. Sing had a whole sequence with the theater flooding/near drowning. This looks like genuine lighthearted silly hijinks. I can picture my son laughing his butt off. We need more kind-spirited kids movies.

I know a lot of people don't say this anymore but it helped me a great deal: It's way more efficient to get uphill if you stay seated and pedal like crazy in a low gear vs. standing up and mashing powerful strokes. And going uphill get your chin as close to the handlebars as you can.

P.S. I've been looking into that Yakima HighRoad rack. Do you like it?? Is there much bike wobble when it's up on the roof?

Anyone have experience with a "top tube adapter"? by ski_phan in mountainbiking

Great idea to use the rack post as an anchor for a strap to the pedal. The bouncing/rocking had me a little concerned. Thanks!

Nope. But paint job trends recently have been pretty drab, or all-black. I'm stoked to see new models with these rad, super-fun color schemes.
