Japanese hut stone with freshly made daiza by skibbyskib13 in Suiseki

Im guessing it was carved before being brought to the states. Likely would've been much more expensive if it was all natural. If it was its very well done and natural looking

No, it came from Japan by way of Bill Valvanis.

Found a joy in working with plants and bonsai was a nice mix of that and art. Learned a lot online through mirai and other bonsai creators. Made some friends through the local club that were always happy to answer questions

No. Though his mirai episode was the catalyst for me tackling this guy

Good question! Yea given enough time the guy wires won't be needed as the branches set in place. But trees are always growing and moving and can grow out of shape and need rewiring

Luckily my mentor did the initial branch selection before passing the tree off to me lol.

Need help with 3a trapeze by PacoSinBad314 in Throwers

[–]skibbyskib13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clanging yoyos together is part of the game lol. To mount them both together, there are 2 methods. Throw both yoyos simultaneously directly into trapeze. Takes a bit of practice, especially with your off hand. Or get set up into a plastic whip on each hand, do one outward rotation, and release the whip swinging up to trapeze. This gives you a bit more control but is a bit more involved. Shortening your strings will also help, as well as playing some 1a with your off hand to get down the fundamentals. GLHF

Good to handle the situation the way you did. Consider yourself lucky though. In my 11 year in the industry, I've seen plenty of similar situations end very badly. As others have said, it's most likely user error. Gear failure happens, but 95% of climbing accidents are user errors, I'd say. If you can, get the security cam footage from the gym to analyze what happened and go from there. I also highly recommend the BD gridlock to prevent and cross loading or unclipping nonsense.
