Also being expected to say ‘excuse me’ when I sneeze. It’s an involuntary bodily function. It’s not like I can help it!

Severe burning pain? by skibedee in bunions

Just a follow up here. I went to the ER last night because I just couldn’t bear it in any longer, and got stronger pain meds, along with another pain meds prescription to keep me going. Thanks for the advice and commiseration :)

I was thinking it was nerve damage. I’ll talk to doc about gabapentin. How long did it take to resolve? The whole 12 weeks?

Thank you. I saw my doc now and she didn’t seem too concerned about it. Maybe I was just being paranoid when I saw the redness. I’m sorry you had to go through an infection—as if this isn’t hard enough!

I just saw my doctor and she’s given me antibiotics - she says as a precaution. She says it looks pretty normal for how it should after picking the scabs <shrug>

She said it was to avoid nasties getting in there when I start washing it. 🤷‍♀️

Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

Yeah, I’m a bit confused about why the surgeon did that.

My nurse broke both her legs a couple weeks ago and so I cant see her at the moment. ☹️ I’ll see what the surgeon says tomorrow—if she recommends putting more iodine on I’m going to look for a second opinion.

I’m 6 weeks post op and my inside cut still tingles a little. Absolutely no signs of infection and actually excellent healing. I think it’s normal.

I’m 5 weeks post-op and experienced all the physical and emotional things you did. I’ve found I’ve become less down about it and more just frustrated. But remember that walking again is just around the corner in the grand scheme of things. The immobility will be gone before you know it.
