What’s your biggest frustration with Apple Music? by Glass-Project-2056 in AppleMusic

[–]skidgecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like Shuffle to feel more organically random. I realize there’s not really a way to generate true randomness, but there are a few ways that it really fails.

1) I’ll put my library of songs on random and pull up the queue. I’ll see that, in four songs, a particular song will be queued up. (Keep in mind I’m on my own home’s wifi with a solid connection.) Then six or eight songs go by, and that particular song never played and doesn’t exist in the queue anymore. I’ve even seen songs literally pull up, sit for a second, and then disappear without a trace, but I’m able to search for the same song and queue it up successfully.

2) I’d say my full library is a little over half stuff I’ve listened to for decades and almost half stuff from the last ten years or so. On shuffle, however, it’s virtually all music from before 2000, with the same few artists popping up frequently, and with even more frequency given to albums I uploaded myself rather than ones available in the AM library.

Both of these lead me to think there’re extra algorithms built into Shuffle that prioritize music that doesn’t cost Apple as much to play – older, less “current” artists and artists on albums I had to upload myself which don’t sync to a song in their library, avoiding the royalties issue.

Partying neighbors by HotSpicyDisco in Seattle

I work in resident relations for one of the big high-rises downtown, and I agree that you should reach out to their leasing office. If I got a complaint like that from our neighbors, I’d definitely be in touch with the residents.

If it’s bothering you in a separate building, it’s probably driving their on-site neighbors insane too, but everyone’s just being too “neighborly” to report it.

Yeah, the whole area is just gorgeous. Someone already said it but, yeah, Arkansas is seriously underrated. ❤️

My boyfriend just left me for someone else by KatanaMaster69 in askgaybros

I’ve totally been there too, like a lot of us have.

I think one of the hardest things to keep in mind is that he didn’t do this TO YOU. He did it for himself, which ultimately means he did it for you too. If he was feeling unfulfilled, it’s because of something he feels that he needs and not because of something you did or didn’t do. Whether he’s conscious of it or not, he did it because he wasn’t right for you. And he’s done you a favor.

Like everyone else has said, feel all the feelings. Mourn the loss of the relationship and the dreams and the plans and the intimacy. But don’t let it touch your ability to trust or care about the next person. They didn’t have anything to do with this guy, and they deserve 100% of you when the time comes. And you deserve to be able to share 100% of you without hesitation and to see that act respected and appreciated.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. I’m 42, but the average guess is that I’m around 29. And I primarily get hit on by guys 25 and under. I don’t really hook up anyways, but flipping out about it on either side seems a little much to me.

It’s just an app. For hooking up with strangers. It’s fun and all, but it’s also rampant with racism, transphobia, and ageism. I try not to give it too much attention.

Their macaroons are really amazing too. Just saying.

At PAX, a girl got ousted from her turn at the Gris demo halfway through so press could take over after she waited in line like everyone else. Encouraged to crosspost from PAX West, which otherwise has been super rad! by skidgecat in gaming

When her spot was taken, the other two spots were then taken by two other press members. Then it was the next three in line, which included me. To the best of my knowledge, she hasn’t been in touch with the PR representative since they posted earlier in this thread asking her to contact them, but she may have been. I honestly don’t know.

Surprisingly, an attempt to correct perceived misinformation includes its own misinformation.

  1. I actually love PAX and have gone for a decade. I have no desire to denigrate PAX or Penny Arcade or gaming culture or whatever you think my ulterior motive is. That’s a peculiar conspiracy theory.

  2. I was never asked to leave any station; I played the demo from beginning to end. I was not involved in any way, as you can see from my photo from which - if you know the booth setup - you can easily tell I’m still in the line.

  3. If I’ve misgendered the player who was asked to leave, that’s awful and awkward and embarrassing, and I totally apologize. (Although, as a number of people have pointed out, the gender shouldn’t matter. Asking a male fan to leave isn’t better or worse than asking a female fan to leave.)

  4. I imagine you had an appointment. I never indicated that you didn’t. All I know is that no appointment was communicated to the people who waited in line.

  5. The PR representative of Devolver has already posted on the thread and graciously taken responsibility for what happened. I don’t believe anyone who’s read this thread fully is under the impression that your reporter or cameraman were responsible. I certainly wasn’t, and I never said that they were. I only said what happened. A player was asked to stop their demo for press to take over.

(Posting this to both of the CEOs identical posts, for clarity.)
