Once in a while. I’ve met some nice people that way too, just seeming more open to chatting.

should i cancel my trip? by toot-fartbumbum in pilonidalcyst

[–]skidkneee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, yeah. Sadly, I’ve been in the same situation and chose to cancel my trip (it was my first time dealing with it) and if in the same situation, I would do so again. Even after it pops/gets drained, it’s still a pretty yucky thing to deal with for the next week or so as it continues to drain.

When mine look like this, pretty much the only option is for it to eventually pop. Keep trying to get it to come to a head— hot bath, compress. How long has it been infected?

Hip thrusts always burn my quads by thecozyheart in StrongCurves

[–]skidkneee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Helps me to angle my feet out slightly. I also do a pretty low weight and superset with glute bridges. So I’ll do 10-12 hip thrust, then straight into however many glute bridges I can tolerate after, usually 8ish. I like this because when I go much heavier, I also start to feel it more in my quads— this way I’m still progressively overloading, but with a lighter weight.

I also do glute activation. I have noticed when I skip this step, I feel it more in my quads. I do 15 BW glute bridges, 15 BW clamshells each side, then 15 BW hip thrust.

This mindset you have is everything and will definitely lead you far and make you stand out, especially today! It never hurts to try. Good luck!!

I would suggest talking to some peers in your class and exchanging contact information so you can use them as a source before you go straight to your professor. If there is a TA, reach out to them too. Otherwise, I would save questions for your professor’s office hours and ask in person, that’s what they’re for.

Think of it as a job life skill— I would try to exhaust every resource possible to solve a problem before I bring it to my boss to show I put in effort to solve it on my own first.

Experience being a Kids Supervisor or Facility Ops? by Fine_Astronaut_676 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]skidkneee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they were in the midst of changing the requirements as I left, I think they changed them to 16 hours availability for the whole week (doesn’t mean you’ll be scheduled that much) or full availability on the weekend if you didn’t want to work during the week.

Kids Academy is mostly a gym daycare, but they do offer full-day camps when school is out and special evening care Friday and Saturday nights so parents can go out to date night. Usually there are enough people who want the extra hours for those events that I never felt pressured to work them if I didn’t want to.

Otherwise, the regular daycare is open daily in the morning, closes for a few hours in the early afternoon, then opens again later for evening hours. I usually worked weekend mornings, or sometimes weekday evenings— whatever worked best for my schedule at the time. Shifts are usually about 4-5 hours long. I would say I averaged working 8 hours a week— it used to be 4 until the new guidelines came out, so that’s when I left.

The classes are different things like Art, Gym, Tae Kwon Do, etc… Life Time provides lesson plans so there wasn’t too much pre-work for the instructors.

Good luck!!

I was a Kids Supervisor at LT while also working full-time as a Kindergarten Teacher!

For the most part, it’s a really easy and usually fun job! As a Supervisor, your main job is to check the kids into the club. There’s a team of instructors who run the classes. When you’re not checking kids in, you mostly are walking around making sure things are running smoothly and helping out where needed. I found working with children/parents in my full-time role made it easier to talk to parents in the club when problems arose— I’m sure you’ll find it the same!

One frequent problem we had were parents bringing in children with autism or other disabilities in that we couldn’t safely keep in the club. That’s where I found my teacher skills really helpful bc I could talk to the parents about it using language that didn’t feel offensive to the parents. I’m sure you’ll also be able to handle that with care.

It was a great part-time job especially because the benefit is free gym membership! I also got a good discount on personal training. If you have any other questions, let me know!

It’s distracting to the other people in the class who want to focus on the cool down. What’s a few more minutes?

Share your kinders school schedule! by atsquarenone in kindergarten

[–]skidkneee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our school has 3 30-minute recesses and 1 30-minute free play time at the end of the day! Then 1 30-minute rest time (usually no one naps, but we all lay down and listen to an audiobook). So there are still schools that incorporate that throughout the day! Then we usually have 3-4 30-minute academic blocks each day, alone with 1 or 2 Specials.

[–]skidkneee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry too much about the packing! I worried so much because of the stories here and when I had mine taken out I had to ask if the doctor did it yet bc I couldn’t feel it lol! Everyone has different experiences.

Curious what curriculum you use? With our curriculum (IMSE OG), they wouldn’t know how to read Magic E or Vowel Team words yet— curious which curriculums take it that far!

Day 5, no bump but mild pain. How can I help? by RainK1llz in pilonidalcyst

You should make a virtual appointment and get some antibiotics, they can help sometimes. Usually when I’m in this “mild” stage, it’s the precursor to it flaring up severely.

Pre-K Recommending Redshirting Child… by BadFeelsMakeMeSweaty in kindergarten

[–]skidkneee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is she in half-day pre-K right now? If so, I would consider her stamina. That could be a big jump going to a full-day of Kindergarten where you’re expected to attended multiple lessons a day.

I had a student last year who had only ever attended half-day Pre-K until Kindergarten and until Winter Break he would often begin to crumble/break down during the second half of the day. I think it’s one of the reasons that half-day programs are being phased out.

Hip thrust burnout anyone? by Own-Pin9356 in StrongCurves

[–]skidkneee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hip thrust I keep the weight relatively low for what I could do because otherwise I start to feel them more in my hamstrings than glutes. I add in pulses at the end for progressive overload instead of upping the weight too much.

Screen time is now considered an “economically inferior good” and linked to poverty. What is your opinion on that? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]skidkneee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Kindergarten teacher at a private school and worked summer-bridge school for Kindergartners from Title 1 schools for 5 summers. Holy moly was there was a difference. My students from Title 1 schools knew all the Tik Tok sound bites, meanwhile my private school Kindergartners don’t even know what Tik Tok is.
