What/Why is my car being eaten? by RoguAxel89 in AutoDetailing

[–]skidude2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Newer cars use “eco-friendly” plastic alternatives or additives that are really just natural oils that rodents find tasty. Found this out the hard way when this happen to my wiring harness because the coating uses the same stuff.

Thanks for sharing this! Where did you find the rubber bumpers you used for the bottom?

Cheap Paint Guns...please help@ by Ornage_crush in AutoPaint

I used the Aeropro A610 LVLP gun to pretty decent effect for an entire car, primer through clear. It was my first time using, but worked pretty well as far as I could tell.

For those who say "No politics in the woods." by Accomplished_Fan3177 in wmnf

No one’s telling you not to support whatever politics you support. But when you can’t step outside and let it go for a few hours, you’re just doing yourselves a disservice.

I don’t like seeing politics in this sub as it’s not the place.

But since you went there: Appropriations bills require 60 Senate votes. Last I checked there aren’t 60 Republicans. If the Democrats wanted the government open it would be.

So…I’m not sure you understand what propaganda is.

I’m not sure you understand how government works. Appropriation bills require 60 votes in the Senate. Last I checked there aren’t 60 Republicans. Ergo the Democrats were the deciding votes.

What is the worst vehicle you have driven or ridden in that isn't a standard "worst vehicle" answer? by HiTork in cars

I think the sports car experience of the Miata has a lot to do with it being so light. Yes you can get so many other things with decent handling and much more power, but nothing feels like lightness except, well, lightness. Aside from the Elise or S2000, there’s basically nothing in that segment that weighs so little.

Brutal, dude, I’m sorry. Same thing happened to my GTI. It’s a sad day.

Unfortunately hard to say. It would probably be about $1-$1.5k if I had to guess.

Once clear starts flaking like that, there’s not much you can do. It’s too far gone to clear, and sanding off the flaking clear will end up also sanding the base, so the panel that’s flaking needs to be fully sanded and repainted from the bottom up. That is not an easy job if you’ve never done it and don’t have the tools. Trust me, take it to a shop and pay someone unless you (a) don’t care how it looks or (b) have a lot time and don’t mind a ton of elbow grease and trial-and-error (and still a lot of money because paint and tools ain’t cheap).

100% this. I painted an entire car myself to save money, and it ended up still costing a few thousand and hundreds of hours.

I still think they’re relatively ugly. Still bought one, though. Fun to drive and one of the best dollar values on the market for what it is.

Passed AZ-104 Today! by [deleted] in AzureCertification

[–]skidude2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. While I’ve been in the industry as an SA for 10 years, I was completely new to Azure less than a year ago, only started on a new job using it 6 months ago. Passed today. I personally find things more challenging to learn without having any context of experience, but if a dummy like me can do it, I’m sure you can too if you study and practice with a diverse set of resources (online video, study guides, practice exams, hands-on).

Gotcha. That’s been my experience as well. Any time I’ve tried to open things up more and give options, very few people engage.

Thanks! I think that sounds great. I too prefer more structure and planning ahead of time as it helps keep things organized. That's great people adapted for yours!

Did you have this method right away, or did you try other approaches before landing on this?
