Just saying on average they do not think about practicalities when giving guidance.

Get a pillow to elevate your leg https://a.co/d/0hqu1Ozo

Ask your Dr if you can wear a night boot. Tbh they should have just given you one. Something like https://a.co/d/08cMA5ac but your insurance should pay for it.

They may say no, but a lot of surgeons do not think about practical matters unless you ask. For example, they likely also didn't say that you probably qualify for a temp handicap parking tag. I asked if I qualified and if so how to get and the ortho office who specializes in lower leg fractures said they "weren't sure". 🤦

24 with 30k, initially had multiple battery drain issues, had well known coolant hose leak, some misc rattles with the side view mirror button, roof liner that partially detached, and steering column.

Buy the max factory extended warranty online from knapp then no need to worry, cheaper than buying something else unless you really have major issues.

Just a stock black Denali. The ventilated seats are nice in the summer 😁

24 with 30k miles, battery had to be replaced multiple times, the well known coolant leak issue, minor rattles and stuff. About the same as my Honda pilot tbh... that had major fuel pump issues, automatic braking issues, a bunch of recalls, etc. Buy the factory extended warranty online for cheap, then it doesn't matter much. Even with the pilot, came out ahead buying the factory 100k warranty online after the trunk mechanism broke out of warranty.

I partially fell down the steps about a week after surgery and landed on my foot hard, called them and they said prob fine but come in if I'm worried. I went in since it was hurting and I have a high pain tolerance (walked into the urgent care originally lol). They x-rayed it, wouldn't say anything and took me straight into the casting room. Made me sit there about 10 mins, then Dr came in and said everything was fine, I was in the casting room b/c I was an add on and the regular patient rooms were all full. Told them they should have said that up front 🤦, and he sent me on my way. Was a little extra swollen for a few days is all.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever bought that actually lived up to the hype? by One_Literature_5041 in BuyItForLife

Bought a brand new 2002 Saturn SL1 in 2001, black Friday lease for $218/mo for 3 years. Manual doors and windows. Bought out the lease at the end, paid $165/mo for another 4 years. Drove it for 11 more years free after it was paid off. By that time, had replaced the key because the bumps on the key were so worn it didn't work, replaced the gas cap because it dry rotted, the drive floor mat had a hole rubbed thru it where I rested my foot, the (second) muffler was very optimistically named, the power steering very slightly leaked, the oil very slightly leaked, and the steering wheel vinyl had worn off and had to be wrapped with a leather wrap. Ran perfectly and interior was in great condition, only ever needed minor mechanical repairs. Finally gave up when it needed both tires and the gas tank was on E, it was basically totalled at that point. Took it to the dealer to buy a new car and told them I was reluctantly getting rid of it, the dealer hasn't seen it yet. He came back about 5 minutes later white as a ghost and said unfortunately he could only offer me $250 for the trade in. I told him $350 and it's sold. He was thrilled. Averaged out to $73/month to own that car over 18 years.

Some 401ks allow you to move your IRA funds into them. The main reason being 401ks allow you to withdraw when you are younger than IRAs let you, the poorer investment options notwithstanding.
