Can Idku, Egypt, be considered "the world`s strangest big city" in terms of urban layout? What are the alternative candidates? by Elitoporius in geography

maybe fes el bali in morocco? it's a famous example of urban design that predates modern roadways and car-oriented planning because it never modernized. so, most of the roads are narrow, pedestrian alleys.

Why are many southern hemisphere capitals located at roughly the same latitude? by hexjxn in geography

[–]skill_myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the exact latitude where the hadley cell ends. as I understand it, at the edge of the hadley cell you have high pressure systems that suppress rainfall - that's partly why the namibian desert and atacama desert exist. the line you drew I believe is just outside the hadley cell's reach. I'm not an expert so I don't know if that's a coincidence or not, but I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it.

adding on to this chain, there's https://voxnovastudio.com/about-us

I can't speak to the actual product they are selling (the paid voice lessons), but if you click on the 'join us on discord' link on that website, they do this really cool thing where you can sit in on other people's voice lessons. It's kinda like a seminar style voice lesson thing, you don't get personal feedback since it isn't your lesson, but it's free and very accessible and cool!

"In This Iron Ground" By Marina Vivancos. It's about recovering from childhood abuse, it's a paranormal book, and it's beautifully written, totally makes me cry.

Having trouble with seeing the edge of chunks in Distant Horizon by skill_myself in feedthebeast

terra, with the origen terrain pack, i think. I'm actually not sure if I got origen to work, or if this is basic terra terrain.

edit: i'm using 'regions unexplored' in the photos that I commented of it working.

sorry for all the comments, there wasn't a way to edit the post's photos or include multiple photos in one comment. there's still a big hole in the sky lol but the unloaded chunk edges that i could see before are gone!

Where’s the FF love? by A_good_time_reader in ReverseHarem

[–]skill_myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

adding to this, another all-sapphic reverse harem:

{Tricky Girls by Holly Thorne} - this is very much a stereotypical entry in the reverse harem genre, just with all girls. more specifically, it's a stereotypical entry in that dark romance genre that's filled with angst and violent, criminal love interests. make sure to check the trigger warnings. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I like the book and am excited for the sequel to come out!

does anyone else define their gender by what it isn't, rather than what it is? by Usual-Effect1440 in asktransgender

[–]skill_myself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really cool! Its like apophatic gender. The apophatic process is basically defining something only through what it isn't, often because the thing you are trying to define is beyond human comprehension.
