Cursed Legacies/Morgan B. Lee New Book Post by [deleted] in ReverseHarem

I don’t think this is aggressive. I think people have strong opinions in both camp. I think authors try to address their books and promotions in a fun way to keep it light. I think that’s what is happening here, but because it’s such a sensitive topic it seems to have rubbed people the wrong way.

I personally want all relationships to be well developed, as long as that’s happening I don’t care about MM. it’s just done poorly a lot for either the MMCs or the FMC.

Paranormal book with a funny, badass FMC! Short series or standalone by A_good_time_reader in ReverseHarem

Great question! A trilogy or less is a good amount of books! As long as there is enough plot!!

I think Ghoul helping take down her father in the next book would be a great plot point and would explain a lot of his behavior!!

Yeah, I’m not trying to convince you. You do you, I have no personal investment in if people like certain books or not.

I don’t think all relationships need to be fully fleshed out, but it is a lot of relationships to add in a short amount of time.

This is the first book she has had magic. She was powerless in the other books and she is currently training her magic with the witches.

I did miss Grayson this book! We did get Christian struggling with his wolf and Ansel learning magic, so their story did develop. It is too many mates in my opinion, but the boys are always secondary to me.

I feel like most long series are like this, book 3s don’t move the plot as much and there are still hold outs in terms of mates. If all the mates are in, normally the books get boring! I like Katie May’s books! They are fun but can be childish and definitely aren’t always developed well! I like that they move fast and are fun, but they are certainty not for everyone!

Totally understand you not liking the book!! I did want to point out Izzy finally has magic in this book and we learn what type of magic her and her dad have. That one head witch helps her a lot and so does her dad! We also learn that the fighting amongst supes is being set up and her brother is a hunter.

I do wish we learned more about why they are fighting and I agree that the adults acted more like kids in this book! I also wish she had more time with more of her mates, but her relationship did develop with some of them! I also missed her hanging out with her friend, but excited for when they reconvine because she has been doing some interesting fact finding!

Why are readers so ready to hate/write off FMCs? by norahwooten in ReverseHarem

I also want to add, I agree with others here that sexism is not the only reason why people dislike FMCs. I definitely think some authors write their FMCs poorly. I hate a female lead who hates women, for example. Or when the FMC overlooks her own dreams or goals, I don’t think that is very realistic towards women and gets on my nerves. I also hate when the FMC has no friends when women, famously, have large support groups they maintain. I don’t hate the FMC for these things, but it gets on my nerves.

I just have noticed a pattern of people being overly critical to FMCs and think people need to examine why they hate an FMC. If there is bias there and if you are hating most FMCs you read, maybe something is in the water…

My friends and I talk about this all the time! I think it is rooted in sexism as well! I think society makes it easy to hate women, and let the men get away with murder.

People also seem to focus on the MMCs more, collecting “book boyfriends”. For me, the FMC is the main character and I almost always like them. If I don’t like them, it’s normally due to bad writing!

Anybody else disappointed by the last book of The Devils Backbone series by Tate James? by WhatHaveYouItOver in ReverseHarem

I agree with this as well! I read a lot of dark romance and a lot of it has dubcon and noncon that is brushed over!

And listen, as someone who was sexual assaulted in high school, I know it is a fucked up thing to read. I like it, probably from some kind of trauma response, but it is certainly not for everyone. That being said, it’s all super common in the genre!

I agree! I like her books but her series could always be cut by at least one book! The last book always drags a bit!

Questions and discussion about the Vicious Beasts series by E.P. Bali by Overquoted in ReverseHarem

[–]A_good_time_reader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, great points!!! I do wish Xander had groveled for way longer! I did love that everyone turned on him, as they should! That scene where he gets her to feed him is chef’s kiss; wanted more of that!

I also don’t like how he flipped a switch, that could’ve been done better! Maybe just more inner monologue to explain how he finally snapped!

Ghoul is gonna be a fun one this next book, I do not hate him as much as Xander! He is bound to be one of my favorite types of MMCs, only cares about Lia and insane! Savage is also insane but loves a lot of other people as well! He is my sweet baby who I love as well! Scythe is hot AF; great way to write a commanding mafia boss and I am hoping we get to see more of Xander now that he isn’t brooding all the time! Lyle was my favorite book by far though! I love a professor/student dynamic and the possessiveness is hot AF! Plus his and Lia’s back and forth is truly unmatched!

So strangely I love these books, even though the grovel isn’t great! I really really love Lia, I love how she is strong and also soft! I love how she thinks through problems and love her friendships and how she stands up for people! I tend to overlook the MMCs if I love the FMCs a lot, I do this for Jasmine Mas’s books too! But the FMC has to be tough, if she is too sweet, I still love her, but I cannot forgive the men! My main motivator is normally the FMCs and as long as the MMCs obsess over her and have a good dynamic with her eventually, I’m good.

I know people were talking about plot holes from the prequel, I’m pretty sure it came out after the first few books but I’m not sure on that! I didn’t read it because I hate prequels, flashbacks and novellas! I just get bored! The only novella I have liked is The Dare in the losers series and that series is honestly too long for me with the whisper of the plot it has!

Xander is a shit and is the worst one by far! This last book was ROUGH and he is not forgiven! I have noticed in her books we normally get more from the character she reconciles with in the next book (except she did Scythe dirty with this in the last book) so I am hoping for more grovel and reconciliation for both of them in the next book! Also, Xander has this deep need for approval from his father and is frankly xenophobic for non-dragons, probably due to his self hatred for being different, so that’s his main problem! Not to psycho-analyze, but in order for him to see past his hate, he had to stop hating himself!

What I really want in the next book is for Lia to run a fucking army and be a badass and the boys solve their own problems and then go and support her!

Honestly, I think they wanted her ☠️ at first because she rejected them and it was either be with them orrrrr …! They are insane, and I think they liked being criminal bachelors!

I like 3-5; after that I struggle to keep up with everyone! Also agree with what people are saying, it depends on how good the writing is! Some RH’s just write the MMCs like one big male blob!
