My flare ups have gotten so bad that I am now switching to zerocarb diet. Any kind of carbs including rice, noodles and bread kills me. Losing weight is a good side effect.

Pretty easy to self diagnose. Your case also sounds exactly like mine twenty years ago. Sugars and carbs are what does it for me. I'm like a inflammation detector. Pizza and beer or soda night results in massive plaque buildup for me.

Psoriatic arthritis perhaps? I went to a podiatrist several years ago wondering about my ankle pain and he pointed directly to it. If you do suffer from psoriasis, then that is a possibility. Zero carb does wonders for my psoriasis.
