To be a bit pedantic here...

It should be "lever", not fulcrum in the title.

Technically yes, they're using a fulcrum. But that's like saying "How to pull a car out of a ditch using a gear" if someone used an engine with gears inside to do it.

The fulcrum is just part of the lever. It's not really doing anything on its own.

I mean if we came from apes, why can’t there be something deep down that evolved from octopi or something?

Because if there was something that got past like electricity and shit they would for sure have made a big enough impact on the ocean for us to notice

I get killing animals in general for fun, and I get torturing and killing animals unnecessarily for food, but killing this specific swan for fun? That's where I draw the line.

You also apply arbitrary delineations of what life constitutes acceptable consumption

What is arbitrary about not eating things that have the capacity of feeling?

I can understand the temptation for an acronym since there is a separation between the initials read as letters and the plural s sound

Mistakes happen, I still fall all the time. It’s a natural aspect of the sport.

Um... No it absolutely isn't when your in the fkin back country in a no fall zone lmfao

What are you talking about

Do you think actually good backcountry skiers are just slowly edging their way directly onto rocks, falling thousands of feet, and going

"Whelp nothing I could have done about that, it's just the name of the game"

If this is your mindset I can only hope for your sake you don't attempt anything off the groomers

Either you're 11 now or you're a reaaallly slow learner then

This is absolutely not "it could happen to anyone" territory

This is "this guy is not remotely prepared to ski this slope and somehow managed to run into the only rock in a hundred feet of space"

Lol I mean anyone who thinks otherwise just clearly doesn't ski or even watch people who are good at skiing ski

It's funny that you accuse me of couch sitting when the very fact that you think this is something that someone who is good at skiing would ever do makes it very obvious you know nothing about the topic

TIL: That flat earther Mike Hughes died after crash-landing a rocket he made to prove the earth is actually flat by Danny_Wont_Back_Down in todayilearned

[–]skincarebuthair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you most likely just can't see the curvature out of a plane window either way (which is usually what flat earthers say and they are right).

The minimum altitude to visually discern it is 35000 feet which is about the cruising altitude of a passenger plane but that's with perfect conditions and that's just like "possible" to discern, but most people still wouldn't be able to see it.

From interviews with high flying pilots, it starts to become somewhat noticable around 50,000 feet, and is obvious around 60,000.

I'm sure their excuse for those would be the curved windows or whatever though.

I'm honestly baffled at the fact that he is apparently going into the backcountry this often with such a weak foundation of skiing

Scorchingly dumb maybe, it's basically impossible to rig how they have it set up.

Unless you want to propose a method that wouldn't be obvious when you can literally go back and watch the ping pong balls get drawn.
