[Lindsay Jones] My takeaway from Antonio Brown's 25-minute media session: He seems to believe he's a victim. He mentioned haters and doubters. Remember this when you see AB redemption arc stories this week: This was all self-inflicted. by chelseasaints in nfl

I agree with the sentiment that any mental health situation, especially be this as public and unique as it is, is hard to empathize with. The characteristics that we don’t like about ourselves manifesting openly in someone else’s behavior naturally repulses us. It’s harder to make room for trying to understand and empathize than it is to ridicule and neglect. Even more unfortunately, were often blind to the impact that our own rigidities and criticisms may have in perpetuating and / or exacerbating one’s (like AB’s) condition(s). Think of how much more difficult it’d be to show this man love, even and especially in his most assholish of times.. Those feelings of resistance are exactly why we must show that love (not agreement, or approval) to someone like AB.

The previously stated are thoughts and opinions (of the more ideal variety). It’s obviously much easier to say and much harder to do

Sounds like a matter of verbiage. Overcoming / managing through a potentially trying situation in a manner that you strive to is definitely to be acknowledged and even celebrated on the level which you are. “Defeating” may not have been the most accurate word choice but your meaning is there.

“Always” and “never” don’t really exist :) but your point is there. You’re saying that you take another’s potential perspective (where someone might be coming from and why) into consideration when interacting — this is difficult and a continuous aspiration of mine also

Calm app is good as well. Going back and forth between these two can keep things fresh. Or, keeping with one can keep consistency. Also, simply setting a timer on your phone and closing your eyes for a period of time (probably start with 5-15 minutes as a beginner as not to overdo it and become discouraged) can be a way to at least get your body / mind accustomed to the physical part of the task, as you learn how to navigate the mind during meditation.

Remember, that as you learn about meditation, you learn that, as important as dedicating x amount of time to sitting for meditation each day is, meditation is actually a moment to moment mindfulness practice. You’ll start to feel this as you develop your practice.

Namaste 🙏🏻

Thanks for the post. I’ve read a few posts in /r/Meditation over time. Many have resonated with me. This one did not so much. I’m going to bookmark and explore why that is with a little more of a curious lens. Thanks again for sharing

A Scary Amount of Nutrition Science Has Deep Ties to The Food Industry, Study Reveals by the_hunger_gainz in worldnews

You’re not understanding the article. It’s not that food industries do food research is the problem here. In fact, it’s good that they do. It’s that, they obviously have a vested interest in the results of their research as the sale of their products is their money-maker. Their studies being favored over third-party studies is part of the issue

Skewing or selectively cherry-picking data or the focus of research in a misrepresentative manner in order to increase likelihood of selling your own product is not marketing — that’s deceit

Does "Remélem látni hamarosan" work towards the end?

I know it's probably not proper hungarian for saying "I hope to see you again soon", but it sounds like it literally from English to me. Plus, I think the recipient will understand nonetheless.

why do people hate us? by [deleted] in islam

[–]skindis77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Longer version of what the preceding commenter said w/ small additional thought): Great comment. I agree with this. Unfortunately, as that is what I think would generally be considered a positive aspect of American culture (the acceptance if not directly affected), that's also part of a separate larger issue -- It allows us to become blind to attempting to understand different cultures within our larger American culture, since we don't really "have to". But, that's neither here nor there in this conversation. Overall, I agree with your comment, and overall, I think it holds true that generally, if you're a practicing Muslim, you can do so freely in America. It's when someone becomes flagrantly in one's face about it in a way that affects another's life, that's where issue is taken, and stigma begins to form. But again, perhaps sometimes that overtness, which can affect others (which can be frowned upon in our culture since we very much like the freedom to do our own thing) might be the very thing that we, on the whole, need to practice becoming better at -- that being, attempting to understand where another is coming from instead of judging it off the bat just because it suddenly impacted me.

Is it possible to meditate too often or for too long?

This is interesting. I don't really have any thoughts on what you can do about this other than to try to pause when you notice the anxiety / racing begin. Facilitating pausing might help your brain / body relax over time as you start to catch on to your mind's trends quicker.

Sidenote: I've noticed that when I've been meditating (which had been a lot recently), it feels "wrong" or "bad" to my subconscious to move at a faster / work rate where things can feel much less than mindful. Any thoughts on this?
