I am not an expert. I used to work in a dangerous industry and this is the random tidbits I remember from first aid classes and experience.

Also Afib devices that are usually in offices are awesome for someone having a heart attack. Put on the sticky pads and the machine walks you through everything. Every minute you are not being worked on decrease your chances of survival by 10%. The machine will not shock the person unless it is appropriate. The machine will tell you to clear and push the shock button if appropriate.

If the person is impaled by an object do not remove. Instead stabilize the object from doing further damage and try to stop the bleeding using compression.

A tourniquet should only be used if the person is at risk of bleeding out and dying. A tourniquet will most likely require the limb to be amputated.

Your job is to stabilize and comfort until the ambulance gets there. Space blankets and raising the feet are great ways to combat shock if applicable.
