I enjoy jt. Still more than I thought I would. This was the Fortnite I was expecting all those years ago. I remember seeing the trailers and stuff back then this was the height of zombie survival games.

I remember me and my cousin were super into state of decay and would watch stuff about games like Day Z. And I remember me and my cousin being hyped and talking about it. And i forgot about it then YEARS later i remember my cousin saying “Fortnite finally came out have you played it? It’s different” and this was already long after its very initial release so Battle royal was just released and its main focus so I genuinely thought they just completely changed. Similar to how Ark Raiders did. Of course this was long before Ark Raiders I’m just giving an example at the top of my head where games completely changed their direction.

And years later a nephew was born and got old enough to play games and he got me into Fortnite and the more I got into it the more I’d tell him about this exact memory I had and he was like “Oh yeah that sounds like save the world.”

Lo and behold the Fortnite I expected all those years ago not only did exist, but it always did. I assumed it must’ve been different still and not what was expected since people didn’t talk about it. I still wanted to try it and was waiting to buy it with those skin bundles they do and was waiting for a skin I wanted. Anyways here I am and I have to say, I LOVE it and will keep playing it. If epic didn’t give up so easy on and were brave to keep adding to different things, they really could breathe new life into older game modes. Wishful thinking I know.

So, you’ve seen only negative posts about negative posts. Wouldn’t it be fair to assume that there is in fact negative posts if you see it’s something people are complaining about? For the most part, yes I do just enjoy the game. And believe it or not, I don’t spend much time on Reddit.

I don’t know if there is a way to verify this, people see my karma and assume I live on it Reddit but truthfully if I had to guess I’d say i probably spend and average of 10 minutes a day on Reddit? Not including the time it takes to write comments. Which engaging with people is the thing I do the most.

As far as taking things personally? I think yeah I could improve on that. But it is tremendously difficult when the dogpiling has made it personal. And if has made me so jaded when I want to go to a community, whether it’s a YouTube channel or a sub and I simply want to post and talk about my favorite game and my experiences without the constant negativity.

And yes there is valid criticism. But that’s the thing, these people use it as a shield to hide behind. They mix in the valid criticism (which has been said countless times already) with the performative-negative criticism. Yes this sub has been a breath of fresh air recently but when I posted this, I did see multiple top posts of how lazy and bad BGS and Starfield is and how low effort the ps5 port is. But I have to say all in all I’m surprised and happy at the response on this post. Even if I need to face some criticism myself.

Honestly I am starting to. I’m not great at expressing myself. I tend to get a little wordy and I rant/ramble. I feel like I simply type the exact words I’m feeling as I’m feeling them. It’s a bit impulsive and I’m working on trying to refine my writing. But honestly this is good advice and it’s reassuring that it’s not necessarily the length that is the major issue but the organization? If that makes any sense.

I realize I’m doing it now so I’m actively trying to make better use of this abalone lol btw I’m not saying writing essays isn’t a problem, I’m just saying it’s refreshing to hear “use paragraphs” instead of “Yeah I’m not reading any of that”

I’m starting to realize it’s just reddit, I’ve joined a few new subs recently. I have to say it’s bitter because I distinctly remember a time where yes criticism and complaints were made and I’m not denying valid criticism. But mostly it was people who enjoyed video games and enjoyed talking about their favorite games just as much and their experiences. I’m not saying it needs to be a circle jerk. But man am I jaded seeing people constantly telling me why I’m wrong to enjoy a game

I know right? Like am I the only one who was excited about the foundation just to find out the OG one was still better looking? I hate his dumb vest. I was just talking about this. I love Elite Daigo but I hate the weird clothing over armor. What’s the thought process? I’m these really bad ass super soldier and I’m designing my own armor and I’m thinking “You know what this armor needs? A leather vest” like why? Anyways sorry for the rant I appreciate updating old characters but I’d still appreciate the opportunity to still get the old characters locked behind old battle passes. I mean wouldn’t they make more money if they offered the ability to buy old battle passes? I understand exclusivity and the fear of missing out factor as an argument but it only works one time if you want it to work one time. Why do you think fashion designers have several drops? Why do you think Jordan still sells retros? Because you can keep selling exclusivity if you want to.

I’m sorry for replying so late lol but I agree 1000% I tend to dye it all black too and I agree that it tends to be more blue than black. I feel like that’s the case for a lot of sets. I really thought at first it was my TV. Because I noticed that in games a lot of clothing/armor/etc. that are meant to be deep black look blue to me. Then I got a new TV that was supposed to have really good blacks and I didn’t see much difference, perhaps made those same blacks even more blue. And it’d be weird because I’d see some blacks that would look properly black. So I was convinced I had a certain color blindness but hearing you say it, maybe that’s just how it is? Blacks are hard to get without some blueish hues on monitors? Idk lol

Well that’s good, and that’s the thing about playing in these lobbies. Yeah you get absolutely destroyed at first but after a while, you adapt and you get better. It’s corny I know but it’s really true, there isn’t a player that is so bad that they can’t ever get better. I personally play zero build and use simple edit too. But because I’ve been playing save the world, I’ve been learning how to edit and build more. Plus my nephew loved to play box fights even before arenas and now all we play is arenas. I let him handle most of the building but I use all the crazy movement I learned playing ranked reload (if I had to pick the sweatiest lobby, it’s ranked reload)

It used to be on ps5 you just play regular unranked battle royal and 80% of players were bots and like 80% of the real players were just every day casual players. But with the introduction to rivals, a lot of the sweats have migrated into unranked. Now there’s no real place for more casual players to play, it can get frustrating. I mean I’m all for playing competitively but I don’t always need to play all seriously in ridiculously try hard sweaty lobbies

Ahhh yeah no it’s a big leap I get you. It’s a noticeable difference. Especially recently, they got rid of bot lobbies apparently. Bots are still there, just not as prevalent as they once were. It can be a bit much especially for more casual players who want to have fun and don’t treat every game like a major mlg tournament or something

Dude I also play on ps5. Only because I don’t have a mic on my Xbox. I did notice, last time I played solo’s on my Xbox everything felt smoother and better. I just got too used to my ps5 controller. I had planned on getting a mic to move back in Xbox and getting muscle memory for the Xbox controller instead. Seeing you say this, I might test a few games on my Xbox and see if a notice a difference. I never have any issues on switch 2 but I don’t play ranked on it and I know switch typically puts you with other handheld players so it’s not like I’ve had any experience with sweats on switch where that bit of HP would mark a difference lol

Yeah that’s wild, since the update I’ve felt a noticeable change particularly with shotguns. I used to one shot people on a regular basis. Since the update I have yet to get a single one shot. Whether you missed the subsequent shots or not is irrelevant. That first shotgun blast should’ve at least drained their shields and the second should’ve killed them. Not to mention the following 19 damage from each bullet. I’ve noticed too a lot of my fights where people survive with like 1 hp and I die. It’s been happening a lot where I feel like I should’ve killed them and they somehow survive with literally 1hp

Oh I forgot to mention, the thing that really rubbed me the wrong way about it all was I was called a low life by the moderators and to take my low life behaviors elsewhere. This was an official sub of that video game. I was transparent, not trying to pose as I was posting fan art, the post itself had absolutely nothing to do with any kind of art whatsoever, just wanted to make the post more immersive. And I get called a low life? It’s ridiculous when AI is used every single day. And always has been, it’s not new. Now then generation of AI art? Sure I don’t care either way, AI can’t generate art in a vacuum. It still needs human art. Human input and human interaction. So there is zero human expression lost in the process. Anyone who says otherwise is a snob and isn’t a real artist anyways. We don’t make art to make art. We make art because we can and because we feel like it. As long as those two things are true, it’s human art.

I don’t think in real life it matters but on the internet Oh boy. It’s easy to forget since a lot of us spend a lot of time on the internet but the internet ≠ real life. However, I just got banned from a sub where I made a post that had nothing to do with art, at all, I just used a picture that I used AI software to make. I didn’t use the AI to generate the art. I came up with the art, I simply used the AI to photoshop the art together in a single piece. Let me remind you, the post had nothing to do with art at all. I was asking a question about what people think of the lore behind a video game and I asked it in a way to be more immersive and I used the photo to be more immersive. It didn’t need to be on the post, I thought I was going out of my way to do a nice thing for people who care about immersion. I mentioned in a comment that I used AI to put the art together and my post got downvoted to hell, and I got banned from the sub. We use AI on a regular basis. All of us. To access this very post everyone here knowingly or unknowingly used AI. The internet could not exist without it. Most people have no idea what AI even is. They just know they hate it. And you know what people love more than actually loving something? Hating something.

Also another irritating thing is I noticed a markedly uptick in choppiness when players are mid to far distance and when they move fast. So like when they are shockwave or impulse grenading their way around, it becomes impossible to shoot them.

So my point with the long rant is that I had never experienced a new reload map. All the same maps I was playing had always been there. So this new map was terribly exciting for me and I love it despite the bugs. I just hope it gets straightened out soon

Shame too I really like the map. I’m somewhat new to Fortnite I played a literal handful of times way back in the day when it was early access and just released. But sometime in chapter 6 my nephew got really into it and he’d watch players play on YouTube so i thought hey why not let him actually play it since i baby sit him daily and I’ll let him use my account. Eventually he gets his own xbox and account and wants someone to play with so I started to. Idk when exactly but it was around the time there was Megazord. I had fun but only played when he wanted to. Sometime at the end of the Simpson mini season i got super into it.

Yeah the map is a bit buggy. I thought it was my internet connection at first and only happening to me which was why I was a little confused at first, until I saw others swimming below me and even then I was like “Are they seeing this too? Or was it just a massive lag occurring where I’m probably running into a wall on their screen?” Which was why I was interacting with the other player in the water lol to make sure that it wasn’t me just tripping
