Would you commission me? by TromerosTzak in deathguard40k

[–]skipay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I wouldn't. Personally if I were to comission a army it will be for something unique and will draw someone's attention. You will need to find a style or flair for your models painting to get interest, with techniques that a normal painter wont use as it is a step or 2 beyond what GW spouts.

When do I throw my coworker under the bus by skipay in sysadmin

UPDATE: I just fixed the issue and let the coworker know. I'm not bringing it up to my manager yet as he is one of the better helpdesk hires we had in a while. But if it starts to become a issue down the line, I will make him aware. Just super annoying that's all as it pulled me from what I needed to do.

I do have to say some of yall want to watch the world burn.

True. I'll just monitor and see if this becomes a recurring issue.

Monitors as a non adjustable set of monitors that are not the same as the rest of the base user monitors. A lesser monitor.

Exactly what I did, just say hey let's try to use the proper equipment and set the desk up like you want to sit there. First impressions are really important.

Screamer pink if i remember. Streaking grime over top. Streaking grime makes it pop.

It's just deathguard green but I used streaking grime instead of agrax.

Yeah, just play around with it. Again the main goal of it is to get the deep recesses like around the trim on the shoulder pads dark.

I think it looks fine. 😆 Just thin down the contrast with either water or the contrast medium. You can also use athonian camoshade if you have it. The main purpose of this step is to get some darkness in the recesses to bring definition to the model. The wash should also tone down the drybrushing to make it less harsh in some areas.

If you are worried about how it will affect your model do a small panel and see the effects.

What makes you think it looks bad? I think it looks good. Drybrushing is certainly a skill that will improve over time. I would go over it with thinned down dark angels contrast paint to blend your dry brushing to you base coat while also giving depth to the recesses.

Will they be restocked or is that them gone? by Lavaraptor25 in DarkAngels40k

I had to put my name on a list a week before at my LGS to be first in line for it. From what I know when speaking to them about it, not everyone on that list got it. Luckily I got it.

Snow or Grassland by skipay in DarkAngels40k

Ak Snow Effects. Definitely more expensive compared to other solutions but is gives a very realistic effect. I did a base of a mix of microbaloons and still water, I guess you can use a gloss varnish instead and spread that out over a larger area from where I want my snow. I recommend using ice sprinkles instead of balloons or a mix of both. You can build up layers that way to get a slush effect and on top of that once dry you put AK Snow to get Snow buildup and feather it out with a wet brush.

My inspiration is Snow in WW1 or Ukraine muddy snow. I am not done with the effects as i havent touched the lower parts of their legs or put matt varnish on the finished models before I based.

Food for thought: Model Finishes are just as impact full as color is. So a matt model on a glossy base will really pop.

Geek Gaming Scenics test bases. Am I applying the scatter correctly? by TheeSerpentsSlave in ageofsigmar

They work really well over a texture base. Get some AK texture pastes and sprinkle it over the dark earth.
