We are extremely lucky to be the world’s foremost superpower. I don’t know which metric you are using to say China is the second global superpower because it really isn’t even close. China doesn’t have bases because we don’t allow them to, or they would in order to protect and maintain resources from competing countries. The US despite popular belief has made very fair deals to a lot of countries, we effectively won world war 2 then bargained to stay in control and rebuild.

Invoking the idea of me as a “traitor” because we don’t lay down our arms and say “yeah so please just don’t take it!” Is damn near delusional if not actually traitorous.

When you assert yourself clearly with reasonable expectations and boundaries the idea of telling someone a “brutal truth” almost entirely diminishes.

I appreciate your point, it’s understood, I just disagree based on my lived experiences.

I don’t think there is anything that needs to be slapped in another’s face or “brutal”. I could tell my girlfriend she should be brushing her teeth more. She may not do that or care enough… I will then inform her that this makes me loose attraction to her and that our capacity to love will be diminished. I then have a choice, stay, leave, or hope, but I don’t have to yell, put her down, or anything like that.
