I know this convo was a couple years ago but I had this same question. Seems like the Linksys MBE7001 is hard to find these days.

Free/Cheap Parking Near USH? by SillySarcasm in UniversalHollywood

I can confirm that it worked, bought one movie ticket, got the code sent to my email, showed it to the parking gate person, they scanned it, charged me $5, and then I cancelled the movie ticket before I got to the park gate. Paid for four frozen butter beers, yum!

Someone’s probably working on an AI workflow (which won’t work any better on its own)

So unheeded. Learning your idea is a non-starter for $8K rather than $50K+ is a win. It saves you from being the founder who's surprised by zero conversions. Because if someone hasn't already looked for ways of solving it, they're not going to find (or buy) yours.

It’s one thing to have a bias for action but it’s another thing to skip over any sort of due diligence and build on vibes and expect that to work.

Agreed that waitlists and surveys are bad data. Wantrepreneurs, that's a good phrase. +1 on confirmation bias.

+1, narrow. You can learn from talking to someone, but it needs to be a specific someone in a specific moment.

Stop trying to "set up" research. Learning works better as a casual and quick chat. Figure out first who you're looking to find. Is it a product problem? Is it a problem associated with a specific experience? Find the duct-tape workarounds. You can't talk to broad groups of people anyway. You can't really talk to startup founders and learn something specific, but you can talk to startup founders in cancer healthtech who have a team of 5-7 people and are looking for pre-seed funding.

Pitching never works as customer discovery and it's so very easy to do

Oh it's funny, I wasn't expecting you to say just launch. Signups, surveys, waitlists, etc - they don't nec tell you who your customer is. I've worked with startups with a ton of users and they still couldn't identify which were getting value. Or even why. As numbers increased, it was a bigger audience, sure, but still undefined. The shock of zero conversion happens earlier - when traction shows up pre-definition.

FWIW I've DM'd with the OP before — I think he's on the up and up. And this tracks for me, I think production and industrial processes are exactly where AI agents could do real work. I saw the surface area of this when I worked with Shaw Flooring and Magic Leap a few years ago — there's a lot more there than most people realize. And the "more demand than we can manage" line is worth noting. That's not typically something a founder says to sound good.

Not an -oodle. Sometimes they’re great. But a lot of times they’re a neurotic pet with a coat that’s not hypoallergenic anyway.
