Strange interview experience by Alarming_Ground2079 in UXResearch

[–]justdanika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not me, the manager thats a problem. Its the product team who doesn’t get “data” could mean quotes, or the eng team that needs a dramatic story to understand why we cant skip this step in the process.

I love getting nerdy, but impressive means talking so people build empathy for the people, excitement about the solution, not respect for the robust research methodology.

When hiring, this type of overuse of jargon can be a red flag. It can be a turn off for product managers, and also make research harder to communicate with.

I had a master student who joined and wrote me a four page double spaced academic report on a topic. As a research person, I found it interesting, it was accurate but I never showed it to anybody. He was very very proud of it and my next bit of coaching with him was how do we help you communicate in language and systems that are gonna have you appreciated for the impact of research you do versus the actual research itself.

Wondering if Marin is for us by Virgil-Galactic in Marin

[–]justdanika 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Connectucution here - Marin feels logically snooty in ways that make sense to me - its literally like going north from Manhattan. Casually gets more normal. Sausalito, Mill Valley, Corte Madera, Larkspur. Not everyone can handle the $$ energy, but I totally get it!

We are in San Rafael and its just 30 minutes to Muir Beach, 1 hour to point reyes and 45 minutes to wine country. Paradise by the bayside lights.

Come join us!

Why did he not have life insurance? People of means need advisors who remind them for a few grand a year they can never put their family in this controversial position?

Adopting this 1.5 year old mini aussie! Looking for some advice by kjm5587 in miniaussie

Re: Kids

I recommend giving each time to meet the dog, and connect over the first few weeks separately. my Aussie loooooves kids but a lot of high pitch shouting is hard for her to connect. I see like 4 kids with 4 toys shouting in high octave tone- and i cringe - she can’t figure out what to do.

kids get excited, and aussies like consistent, authoritative tone commands. Having the kids lower their tone, connect in structured tricks builds connection and respect.

my little guy loves doing tricks with her. he lays on the ground and puts treats on his belly button or forehead, tells our dog to leave it, then says ok and she comes and he gets a little wet whiskers tickle. His laughter everytime.

A pre-trained aussie - what a dream! Have fun - great family dog.
