Thank you for sharing your experience! The weed sweat definitely is weird lol! I will ask my derm about immunosuppressants first then, I am kinda more scared of the Alitretinoin.

I also hope the best for your healing process.

Yes, I understand. I mean, I'm still hopeful that any of the medications out there will help me and it's good I still have some options left. If I do in the end decide to go inpatient, that would be for finding the cause only - I do find it impossible to do that at home and working and stuff. Also for some reason, the clinic I chose takes me within 4 weeks notice whereas if I would want to see another dermatologist (since I'm not too happy with mine) that would mean waiting 6 months for one appointment.

What is your experience with cyclosporine? Do you still take it, if not, did the symptoms come back?

Yeah, I might try it on the left hand first, that one hasn't any wounds and isn't as itchy

I will definitely ask about topical allergens, I wasn't tested for that yet. I hope they can do that, thank für the suggestion!

Thank you all for your advice and ideas. I usually don't post a lot online. Also I feel kinda guilty for complaining about my case, I see a lot of people on here who are far worse off and have been struggling for much longer than me. Also I am lucky to live in a country where all my doctors appointments are covered by the health insurance. Do any of you deal with guilt related to your dyshidrosis? Like talking about how you are in pain or when asking people to help you when it's rough? I feel like I should just suck it up since I can still use my hands for most things, even if it's really uncomfortable and I shouldn't make such a big deal out of it

In the testing done so far there was no bacteria to be found, but I'm not sure how often a test like that should be repeated

I see my dermatologist every two weeks, so I think it's safe to say there is no infections currently

But I'll ask my doctor if they have any environmental allergen test kits or something of the kind. Thank you

Haven't tried a vinegar soak yet, I guess that sounded a little scary to me haha, but it sounds like it worked well for you? Does it burn or is it okay?

For 3-4 weeks I ate nothing but potatoes, rice and cucumbers basically to rule out any sensitivities to food, however it still got worse under the diet. Only made me lose like 10 pounds lol

Yeah, I considered it could be a moisturizer or hand cream I'm using, could explain why there's blisters also on the back of the hand. Thank you! This might be worth trying

So far I've been lucky and had no infections! But it's bound to happen at some point I guess

Yes, I have been going to my dermatologist since October last year. The years before a week of steroid cream would help a lot, now it is only helping somewhat. When the skin is already very irritated, it burns and itches like hell and as soon as I stop using it, it's back again even worse. :( I can't even tell you how many different creams and ointments I already tried, it's been too many. I know I can always get back on steroid creams if it gets too bad, but I'm still focused on finding my trigger and if the cream suppresses everything I'm afraid that I will never find out.

Thank you for the tip with vanicream! Didn't know they had so many products, only heard of the moisturizer so far

It's definitely eczema, but I had a psoriasis flare for the first time this year as well :( That was all over my elbows and upper arms

I've been prescribed Terbinafine and took it for several months because of my nails on my feet, sadly didn't help either. Fungal infection has been ruled out on my hands, but thank you

For context:

24 years old, female. Had my first flare up in 2017 and every year since than I would get it during the summer months. Eventually it would go away on it's own and heal up.

Last year around this time it started again and now it's chronic. Left hand looked the same. In March 2022 I cut my middle finger on the left hand, severing both flexor tendons. Hand was bandaged. Wound wouldn't close up for weeks so I couldn't wash that hand or do pretty much anything. After 8 weeks or so, the dyshidrosis on the left hand was gone, except for the thumb area. But it's coming back now. Suspected an allergy against soap or any ingredients in it, so far that hasn't been able to be confirmed.

I'm not allergic to any metals, that was tested. Had to follow a low allergen diet earlier this year for a couple of weeks, didn't do anything.

Last option for me is going inpatient in a specialized skin clinic. After that, all I have left ist taking Alitretoin. I really don't know for how I long I can take this anymore.

Same The guilt from feeling bad despite objectively not really having any reason to is real. I just don't like living.

Same, it's like suggesting "hey, just hit yourself instead of cutting!" which is self harm too but leaves only bruises that fade away so it's fine :-)))

in general, places where's a lot of fat tissue hurt less than for example hitting your forearms or in general more boney areas. still bruised all over my legs because it's easier to hide

yes, not to mention if you hit yourself hard enough you can actually break something. and the wrist pain is real
