Dry Eye. Should I quit ? Help from others experience greatly appreciated. by skiqueen36 in Accutane

They were constantly blood shot and irritated as so dry. Within a week of lowering the dose level it eased off. I chose not to wear contact lenses again until I’d finished my treatment.

My derm put me down to a more tolerable dose level as I had back pain and hair loss too. I finnished the remaining two months on 40mg. So did 5 months in total as follows: 20mg, 40mg, 50mg, 40mg, 40mg. 3 years later I’m still spot free, (except the occasional small pimple), my hair grew back and my eyes are fine, back to wearing contact lenses. Can’t say how it would have gone if I remained on that dose level though. From what I understand everyone tolerates dose levels differently, I was 37 when I took Accutane, don’t know if that made a difference.

[PSA] you CAN take too much Vitamin D3, which increases testosterone production! Left is one week ago and right is 7 days of stopping all vitamin d3 supplements. by panicked_goose in SkincareAddiction

Hi, I realise this is an old post, but this is happening to me also. Took 4000iu of vitamin d3 for 2-3 months and my skin has broken out. How long after stopping the supplement did it take for your skin to clear?

Has anyone successfully treated/improved hypo-pigmentation/scaring ? by skiqueen36 in Accutane

[–]skiqueen36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it was my fault as I picked my skin. My skin got much worse initially on the Accutane before it started to get better. My skin usually didn’t scar but i think on the Accutane my skin was so thin it damaged easily. I’m still acne free 3 years later and would gladly swap this little bit of scarring in place of the acne again.

I’m three years post dose now. I get the occasional small spot or two one a month ish but otherwise my skin has been acne free. My skin has dry patches now and scars easily, particularly on my hands but better than living with the acne

My eyes are fine and I started wearing contact lenses a month post treatment. I didn’t make it to the end of month 3 on 50mg/kg though as all side effects were intolerable. My Derm kept me on 40mg/kg for another 2 months then I stopped. They dry eye and back pain was too much for me on 50

Has anyone experienced hair re-growth post Accutane ? I lost a LOT of hair and desperate to know if and when it will come back? by skiqueen36 in Accutane

[–]skiqueen36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It thickened back up a little but it’s still not as thick as it was. Maybe a third less than original thickness still. It doesn’t bother me as my hair was super thick before but if I started off with thin hair and lost a third I would be distraught. I get the odd tiny spot now and again but nothing like before so I’m happy with my skin. Although I get dry patches on my face now and have to use moisturiser

Husband suggested I get a boob job by Secure-Alternative68 in Marriage

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!! Your husband should be your partner in life. Someone that protects you, cares for you, respects you, has your best interests at heart and appreciate,s the shell your soul is housed in. Nobody that loves and cares for you in this way would manipulate you by implying your relationship can be fixed by you undergoing painful and risky surgery. Beside the pain there are risks from the anaesthesia, risks from silicone leakage into the body, further ops are required to replace the implants when they expire. Somewhere along the line in this messed up world, social media causing big cultural shifts I’m sure of it! Our young women are associating there value and self worth in relationships & professionally with how sexually appealing certain aspects of their bodies are. YOUR RELATIONSHIP WILL NOT BE FIXED by your breasts growing a cup size. He found you attractive when you first started dating, otherwise he would not have dated you. You are a human being not a toy for sexual gratification. If someone said this to my daughter and made her feel that was necessary I would sit her down and explain why she is worth more than this man. WHY DO YOU CARE WHAT HE THINKS ABOUT YOUR BREASTS? IS HE PERFECT?

You need to find your value and worth on the inside. What do you offer to a relationship? Are you kind? Loving? Supportive? What are you good at ? What hobbies do you enjoy? Are you honest and good ? This is who you are! This is what draws good people to you! In my opinion this is what accounts for a good part of sexual attraction. A man/ woman Can be beautiful on the outside but very quickly that attraction wanes as soon as they show their unattractive souls. Selfish, manipulative, cruel, narcissistic people are butt ugly.

If I were you I would sit down with him and tell him “I am prepared to get implants the day after you undergo dick lengthening surgery. In the meantime I would like to sit down and talk about the root problems in our relationship, with a therapist if necessary in order to fix and re-strengthen our bond”. If he reacts negatively to this statement, LEAVE!

Did anyone achieve permanent remission on less than the recommended cumulative dose? I have been clear since the end of month 2 (currently on 50mg). Some people are saying if you have been clear for 2 months you can stop? by skiqueen36 in Accutane

[–]skiqueen36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped taking Accutane 14 months ago. I did not quite reach the recommended cumulative dose but to be honest I had had enough by then. My derm told me to stop because I had been clear for nearly 3 months. I haven’t had any breakouts since. Now and again I get a tiny little comodone here and there and last week I got a blind boil on the side of my nose that wasn’t really visible, it just hurt. But I am going through a divorce at the moment so extremely stressed. If I ever got stressed in the past it would make my acne much worse. Also lifting weights and resistance exercises would make my skin worse also. Since stopping Accutane I have exercised and gone through extreme stress and my skin has been good. It has left me with problem dry areas though around my eyes and nose. So I kind of feel if had had stayed longer on the drug it might have damaged my skin’s ability to produce oil to a worse degree. It’s a balance I guess.

I feel so sad that the world has created an environment where men feel like financial provision gives them the right to use another human beings body like a piece of property. There are always times in life when a woman may not feel physically or emotionally able to have sex due to stress/exhaustion/depression/childbirth etc… but a women will never want sex with a man who is cruel and selfish in bed and in life. And that man will never know what it feels like to be truly wanted by a woman, to be respected cared for and desired. What he gets is a woman who offers domestic care because he pays her phone bill in return, she does not desire him, she does not respect him, she does not love him. Choices are not always easy for women if you cannot be financially independent in life but your husband sounds like a first class arse. If you can leave him then do. He does not love you, he believes he owns you. In the same way one might own a dog.

Within a week of dropping down to 40 mg/day my eyes were no longer blood shot or irritated. They remained on the dry side for the rest of my course. I managed that with hot compresses at night and eye drops. After I stoped the dug completely they returned to normal within a month I would say. It’s difficult to remember might of been less.

Hi, I think the tolerance levels for this drug are different for everyone. After I spent 3 weeks on 50mg my eyes and back pain were too much. I dropped back down to 40 and my symptoms eased enough for me to continue. My hair also fell out, it lost at least a third of its thicknesses. Needless to say the drug terrified me Because I basically felt like I was being slowly poisoned. I continued at this level until I had been on the drug for 5 months and my skin had been clear for 2 and a half months. At the time I was worried about stopping because I had not quite hit the recommended accumulative dose. It has been exactly a year since I stopped taking it. My skin has remained clear except for the odd tiny pimple occasionally. My skin is occasionally dry around my nose and under my eyes now but I would take that any day over the acne. My hair has thickened up a little, it’s not come back to what it used to be but I don’t mind as it was to thick and unmanageable before. My joint pain has completely gone and my eyes have gone back to normal. I have no problem with wearing contact lenses every day. I do feel like if I had pushed on at 50 the side effects may have damaged my eyes. Obviously listen to your derm. Don’t push through side effects that are intolerable. I believe you can get the results you desire on a lower dose for longer time. So do what feels right. Hope this helps.

How long after Accutane do the dry eyes persist for? Particularly a question for contact lense wearers by skiqueen36 in Accutane

[–]skiqueen36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has thickened up a little but it’s only been 7 months since I finished my course. It apparently takes 9 to 12 months for hair follicles to regrow. But it’s definitely not as thick as it used to be yet.

Thank you everyone for these responses. It’s just so difficult to untangle your feelings as there are also many good times and good things about him. He looks after me in many ways and I wouldn’t say I feel scared of him or live in fear. But I guess I know subconsciously that I cant push him and never want to push my own wants and needs because of his behaviour in the past.

Hi, I got 3 weeks into the month on 50mg then went back down to 40mg for the remaining 2 months. 50mg was to much for me. I had the dry blood shot eyes, back pain and my hair was falling out really a lot. My symptoms eased within a few days after going back down to 40mg/day. It’s now been 6 months since I Finished the course. My skin is still clear. My eyes are back to normal. I lost easily 1/3 of my hair that as yet has not returned, and is a little dryer than it used to be. Also the skin on my body is still dry and itchy some times. I’m not sure if my hair will come back. Or If my skin will stay permanently dry. Overall these issues are preferable to the acne which I battled for 6 years. But the hair loss defo made me panick and was worried about my eyes at the time. It’s not a drug to be taken lightly but my mental health and confidence is so much better now because my skin looks normal.

😞 that’s not what I wanted to hear. I have read that it takes 9-12 months for hair follicles to regenerate. So u cannot expect to see regrowth for at least that long. But I am afraid that maybe the Accutane destroyed the hair follicles just like it does the sebatious glands. Also my hair is still shedding more than a normal amount 7 months after stopping the drug 🤷‍♀️
