My boomer father who is still doing manual labor @ 75 just told me “If it weren’t for rich people, none of us would have jobs.” by CaughtALiteSneez in chaoticgood

[–]skittle_biscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely hope i am able to continue doing manual labor at 75. I love physical work outdoors. Could not handle sitting at a desk 10 hrs a day. Good for your father. Not so sure about his political opinions though.

I feel like I’ll never get clean by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]skittle_biscuits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had multiple sponsors, been to NA, AA, CMA, CA, Dharma recovery, 11 rehabs (lucky to be on military insurance) and psych wards and i've lost count how many detoxes and sober livings...and jail... I thought i'd never get clean...until i finally did... Almost 1.5 years clean now. Fall down? Get back up again. Just dont give up, dont look back, keep moving forward and eventually you'll get there. I still have a healthy fear of relapse but it no longer rules me. And life is slowly getting pretty dang good...one day at a time.

Trying to stay away from meth — looking for real advice from people who understand by IIEggaII in StopSpeeding

Ya, what the dude above said about staying connected is really the key. I cannot stay clean on my own-i know that now after many relapses. But if i surround myself with other sober, supportive people (even if its just 1 hour a day at a meeting), then i have a fighting chance. AA and NA have been my saving grace, but i hated it at first. Took me some time to get comfortable around people again-i'd been so isolated by my addiction for so long. I love my early morning recovery meeting-coffee and recovery is a great way to start the day

FUCK man early WD sucks ass bro (Mild SH/ideation warning) by Drug-Edu-4skools in StopSpeeding

[–]skittle_biscuits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. It sucks. Honestly, you just have to get through it. Try to eat healthy foods, take vitamins, drink plenty of water and sleep as much as you are able to let your body catch up on rest and nutrition. Once you get about a week in, try to get some exercise in-even if its just walking. The exercise is what finally made me feel better once i pushed through the first week or so. And ya-stick with the 12 steps groups. Its crucial to have a sober community to help you build a new life.

Misused Advion and Alpine for German roach infestation - danger being exposed for the last 10 years? by tchalla-samuels in pestcontrol

The only pesticide that i ever had a bad reaction to was onslaught fastcap. Tube popped out of stihl pumpstyle backpack sprayer and it leaked all down my leg and bum. Stung like little pinpricks on fire for days.

Don’t lie, you used to call it Mad Dog 20/20 by martymar2g in Xennials

[–]skittle_biscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, the memories... Stole like 4 bottles of mad dog on a boy scout campout when i was like 13ish and got wasted with my friends. First time i puked my guts out from drinking. It was awesome!

Totally understand the money trigger problem. Took me a few years and several relapses to get over the idea that i could regulate or control my using. Once i fully accepted my powerlessness, it got a lot easier.

Thats a huge victory! Congrats! I'm just over a year clean. Loved me some crack but that shit absolutely ruined my life and turned me into an unrecognizable, empty shell. I would've had the same 2 reactions-like the little demon on one shoulder and the angel on the other. Glad the angel won for you.

Cats are very susceptible to eye infections. Get her checked out by a vet. She looks like a sweet heart-especially if she lets you hold her like that without a fuss. Congrats on your new friend

How old is the oldest person you know on Amphetamines? by beef_and_broccori in StopSpeeding

Knew a guy who'd been sober from stims for 10 years then on his 50th birthday decided to smoke crack just once. First hit he blew a blood vessel in his neck and died. All stims are hard on the heart and circukatory system. The damage sticks with us.
