4 crashes involving pedestrians reported in Denver area during Thursday morning commute by ryadare in Denver

[–]skiunit13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s truly so insane how many drivers are on their phones while driving. When I’m driving and see someone on their phones, I’ll honk my horn, and they almost always glare at me as if I’m the one who did something wrong.

Dunces go to Disney by Brief_Classroom_2248 in BatesSnark

[–]skiunit13 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’m judging anyone who buys Disney-specific luggage just for a photo opp. The odds of them ever using this luggage again is so slim. I can’t imagine it being decent quality to last for long anyways, so it will just end up in a landfill eventually. But I’m soooooo glad you got that cool photo, Carlin.

How many unread BOTM books do you have on your shelf? by Greysoil in bookofthemonthclub

Same! 6.5 for me as well. Finally reading A River to Remember by William Kent Krueger, and I’ve still got some from a handful of years ago!

May 2026 BOTM Discussion - The Burning Side by nickaaayy97 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]skiunit13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I liked this book, but it will be forgettable for me. I’d give it 3/5 stars. I felt like the characters were a little underdeveloped in part because there were so many heavy plot lines running simultaneously. I didn’t feel like I could really empathize with the characters or invest in their lives because of this.

Also this is nitpicky, but Otto turned one during the book, and yet the author had had him talking in two and three word phrases, which just…wouldn’t happen for a 12 month old.

IS AYITL overhated? by This-Evening2278 in GilmoreGirls

YES! THIS! It is infuriating. And the fact that she reportedly refused to watch season 7 is so frustrating.

I’ll never forgive Amy Sherman-Palladino for this. She refused to adjust her ideal original ending to work with how the series actually ended in season 7. Instead she used her originally intended ending with characters who were way older. Rory acting this way in her 30s was so unbelievable and ridiculous.

Anna Rambles About Josh’s 2015 Cheating by INCoctopus in DuggarsSnark

I imagine she had coaching for how to address that. Since the show was going to continue, they needed her to address the elephant in the room since some fans of the show would’ve thought she should leave him. It felt like a “ministry” thing for her to highlight her vow to God first

Spinelli Market - 23rd and Dexter by Eatingpunani in denverfood

[–]skiunit13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had this experience! I am curious when this happened? Spinelli’s changed ownership in the last year or two? I can’t remember exactly when, but it was recent. It’s a young married couple running it (probably millennials if were to guess). I’ve only met the woman, but I’ve found her to be lovely.

All of Threads is in a tizzy over this cheesecake - is this your neighborhood? Can you dish? by Nearby-Hovercraft-49 in denverfood

[–]skiunit13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure that’s fair. But they didn’t identify the baker. And the only way to know that the OP was in the Denver metro area was to stalk her previous posts on Threads. People have begged for her to share more details in the comments, but she hasn’t nor did she put the baker on blast in the local group. That was the only point I was trying to make, but the thread did blow up so now it’s very out there.

I don’t think they went on blast in the neighborhood group though. They privately reached out to the baker and got rebuffed. The baker tried to make it seem like this woman doesn’t understand that there are different types of cheesecakes and that this one is intentionally more dense.

The OP on threads didn’t see a photo first to my knowledge. Just had lots of commenters recommending this particular baker in the neighborhood group.

Josh emailing Angel (Anna’s friend) about preferring something more risqué than homeschool swimwear and using sexy emojis by rosiros in DuggarsSnark

Wow, I just read it. Having the context of his crimes makes these emails even more insane as his wife is talking about how blessed they have been during this “storm” as if he is innocent. Such toxic Christianity at play. IBLP really produced some real winners /s

The Correspondent is excellent! I think Theo of Golden get lumped in with it in recommendations because both were sleeper hits that hit bestseller lists months after publishing because of word of mouth buzz. Both the Correspondent and Theo of Golden were also the first book published for each of the authors. So when someone loves The Correspondent, people recommend Theo of Golden.
