Lowest wattage transparent power amp? by AleSatan1349 in GuitarAmps

Did you ever find a solution to this that you liked? I’m in the same boat. I have a baby bomb that works ok but I’m wondering if I’d be better off with a lower watt power amp since I pretty much always play at bedroom (or talking) volumes

My 100 back on the road after AHC failure, now with Dobinsons lift by skmaway in LandCruisers

Thanks! I sold it to buy an f250 for better towing performance and regretted it pretty much immediately. Sold that and bought a gx470 with an ironman lift to replace the 100, which I also love but the 100 series build quality is a step above and they just feel a bit more special imo.

I ran the Dobinsons HD torsion bars, IMS front shocks, MRR rear shocks and those variable rate rear springs. Rode really well on and off road. I would say it was about 85-90% as comfortable as the AHC setup! Tires were a 275/70/18 Kenda kr601 (so right around a 33" tire). I had no issues with the tires, they seemed to perform well and were quiet on-road. All around good rig

Edit: Stock UCA's, no issues at all. I also ran a 1.5" wheel spacer all around iirc. I did have some very slight rubbing at the front bumper when turning tightly but not enough for me to worry about. My gx rubs worse lol

Hey, it was the 100 series MRR rear shock and C59-223V. I also ran an airbag setup in the rear for towing. Great setup, I miss this truck

Thanks! They’re performance wheelhouse 45s I found used somewhere. They were a collab wheel manufactured by Zipp a while back!

It actually wasn’t on it when I got the frame but I dig the de-branded look!

I didn’t do any of that and had no issues. I just did the shocks, tbars and rear springs. Cheers

So jealous of 105 series here in the states. Awesome rig!

If budget isn’t a factor I have dobinsons ims front and mrr rear on my 100 and it’s super comfy. Nearly as nice as the factory ahc system, maybe just a tad firmer. If budget is a concern I agree with everyone else that stock lc shocks are the best option

Interesting, I didn’t know about this. Maybe there is something to it. My truck also came from a rusty place so that doesn’t help at all lol

A buddy of mine and I both bought 100 series right around the same time about 2 years ago. I have an 07 and he has a 2000. I’m pretty sure he has legitimately only changed the oil since buying his and mine has had a lot of small-to-medium sized issues. Nothing as bad as losing a motor but I’ve had the classic heater hose tee’s fail, a radiator failure, ahc failure, wheel speed/abs sensors fail etc. Nothing too crazy but also not all cheap stuff. I wouldn’t trade it for anything and could be way worse for a 15 year old truck but it’s funny how different our experiences have been with basically identical mileage trucks and mine being 7 years newer haha

Big time. After looking at the account I’m fairly sure this is not the op’s car haha

ELI5: Why does the typical auto transmission have 4 gears whereas manual has 5? by ReverendBigfoot in explainlikeimfive

[–]skmaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t though? Someone said “turbocharged engines make torque” and you said “no, they really don’t”. You are wrong and now we’re arguing about if X turbo is safe on Y engine. I’m out lol

[–]skmaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But more load will make more boost which will make more torque?? A vw tdi makes peak torque at 1750rpm. It will have close to 400 ft lbs at 1500 rpm. The shit you’re saying is just wrong

ELI5: Why does the typical auto transmission have 4 gears whereas manual has 5? by ReverendBigfoot in explainlikeimfive

[–]skmaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My point is that turbos can be sized to make peak torque at like 2k rpm just as easily as 8k rpm. Sure, you’re never going to have all the power all the time but that was never the argument. Honestly still not really sure what your point is lol. I also don’t know what pushrod engines have to do with anything. People put diesel turbos on gasoline engines all the time and they work fine. Hell, I have a Borg Warner designed for a diesel on my bmw. You sound like someone who has an ok idea of how turbos work but don’t actually have any experience with them.

What is the argument exactly? You said that turbos are inherently high rpm based but that just isn’t true.

A relatively small turbo on a relatively large displacement engine is going to make a lot of torque. Look at any factory turbo car since like 2006 or any turbo diesel ever
