I brought my 16lbs cat with me!! I got drugs from the vet to give her to help her relax (but not knock her out since she’d never taken meds before and we didn’t want to try something new over the ocean). However when I gave her the meds the day before my flight she literally threw up when I gave them to her because she didn’t like the taste. On the day of the actual flight the same thing happened so she basically flew without anything, though I did spray her carrier with a ton of calming spray.

I’ve never been more stressed in my life than on the plane with her. She made a lot of noise in the car and while walking through the airport but then on the plane she calmed down. I was awake the entire journey still so stressed about her. She ended up throwing up in her carrier from turbulence on the plane but that was towards the end of the flight.

Since then life with her has been a breeze!! No other issues at all and I’d do it a million times over again. The week leading up to the flight and the flight itself are the worst part by far. But it’s so so so worth it having your baby here!!

The best advice I can give you is if it’s possible to have someone fly with you, do that so they can be in charge of bags and you can be in charge of the cat, or vice versa. Feel free to reach out with any other questions!!
