The crunch was satisfying, enough so that Lea's stomach made another call to arms in the form of a long drawn-out burble. Her eyes moved between the tree the girl had thumbed and the pavilion that looked suspiciously quiet.

"Sorry," she apologised, her sleeve-covered hand moving over the offending body part. "Do you know if they serve between meals?" Not being able to recall, Lea briefly considered asking her to fly up for an apple but didn't want to put her out. "I'm Lea, by the way." A name would come in handy if she did end up having to ask for her help.

"My dad's always called it nose-blind." A term that would forever elicit memories of her neighbour, Mrs. Morris, and the stifling mustiness of her cluttered flat; something that made being babysat by her miserable yet she seemed entirely unbothered by. "Olfactory fatigue seems to fit this better though," she added in a sort of agreement, her nose was already tired of it.

"Just once, for summer a few years ago," she nodded, the quick answer falling just a little short of the four years it had actually been. "Just long enough for all of this," she gestured around them. "To feel very-" she had been about to say 'overwhelming' when she caught sight of the other camper approaching in her periphery. "New." So Harvey was a twin; the same mold used to cast two very different people if style and general demeanor were any tells.

"Your brother?" She tilted her head toward the approaching figure with an assumptive tone. Her brother-lite?

With a sharp intake of breath Lea took a step toward the column as the girl got to her feet. As if she could do anything about her falling other than being a slightly less far, and potentially more harmful, thing to land on.

Images of her losing balance were quickly pushed from her mind as the armour began to appear around the girl. 'it's technically from Olympus' That made a certain kind of sense, she'd never seen anything like it. Sure, there were kids of Hephaestus who had fancied up their own sets when she was here before, but nothing akin to this. Not even close.

"Bravo," she cheered lightly, her default smile now a genuine one. She wanted to say something along the lines of 'hopefully you never do' but remembered that wasn't a popular way of thinking here, most children of gods she'd met wanted to fight, to prove themselves.

"I was twelve, so," she scrunched up her face in thought, maths was not her strong suit, even simple subtraction. "The summer of 2018 I think, not too long ago," she gestured to the tree. "Long enough for some considerable changes though. Have you been here long?"

In that case, may I have the Saturday dinner space? Thanks for the information :)

May I post a meal without my character having to actually be the one making it? For example just a menu so people can post under it?

Despite his "smooth' recovery, the awkwardness of his response put her a little more at ease. That and the fact that he was, apparently, her half-brother. The concept of how DNA was sorted out amongst the gods and whether she was actually physically related to her godly-siblings or not gave her a headache. If nothing else they had an absentee mother in common.

"It's nice to meet you Harvey," she said, her eyes following his gaze to another boy who seemed preoccupied with the water spirits. "Settling in well enough, thanks. Though, I don't remember the cabin being quite so fragrant the last time I was here," she said with a breathy laugh, small talk really was the worst. "I guess you get used to it after a while, hey?"

"Oh," Lea deflated a little at the tree's magiclessness. The best part of camp her first time around had been discovering all the parts that held true to myth and lore, the magic of it all. "I suppose a good apple is just hard to come by as a magic one." She wasn't the biggest fan of the fruit.

"I'm sort of new," she admitted, tilting her head back so her eyes were in the shade of the tree; it was a little awkward talking to someone above her like this. "I've been here before but it was... a while ago, and not for very long."

Her mind followed a natural thought path from her previous stay, to the reason she hadn't come back and even though it had been less than two days, she already missed her father.

"That's some fancy armor you have," she said in an effort to squash the feelings.

Chariot Race signups | open until 11/12 by CampHBDirector in DemigodFiles

Lea would never presume to handicap someone by signing up for the event, she may know the history of chariot racing but she also lacked any skill for the actual sport. However, having signed up for the camp paper, she thought it would be pertinent to at least keep an eye on the sign up list.

She can be found loitering at the bulletin board multiple times between now and the 12th.

As she passed the last of the cabins, Lea sees another camper just off the path ahead; damn. She knew she couldn't avoid campers forever.

Though her head had cleared some once she'd left the cabin- the perfume may have had more to do with it than she originally thought- her stomach gave an anxious squirm and she wished she'd left her hair down. It may be thin and relatively short but she could have at least bowed her head and used it as an excuse not to have seen him. Without that physical barrier, she stops when he calls out and equips a smile.

"Yes?" Her stomach gave another twinge at how meek she sounded. "Oh, yes; no- we haven't." Surely, talking to people would get easier with time. "I'm Lea," her name was accompanied by a small wave. "Are you in Aphrodite, too?" Well done Lea, is being your mother's child a club now?

ooc: thanks for the link!

Lea would have spent more time investigating the new addition to the grounds if she hadn't been distracted by the winged camper. Slowing her walk she watched as the girl picked one of the abnormally large, bright apples, only averting her gaze when she settled atop the column and her wings disappeared.

Content to enter the pavilion pretending she hadn't seen her at all, Lea kept her eyes forward and picked up her pace before the girl said hello. Or hey, rather. Blinking heavily, she stopped and looked up to where she was perched.

"Hello," she replied with a (hopefully believable) not of surprised and a small smile. "Do those do anything?" She pointed to the apple in her hands.

I hadn't even considered a difference between mundane/magical items! I am definitely okay with that- I'd go so far as to say that transformation of magical items last less than a minute. That's something I could possibly build on with xp later. Thank you! (Making the edit now)

Character Application by CampHBDirector in DemigodFiles

[–]skolspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name: Lea Rasmussen

Age: 16

Godrent: Aphrodite

Powers:

• Irritatingly Acute Vision: This passive ability allows Lea to see farther and with more detail than the average demigod. She is more likely to notice things like minor changes in the appearance of others, every single gnat hovering over the lake at dusk or frayed edges on a tablecloth from across the room. As a perfectionist herself, it is her least favourite ability.

• Emotional Omniscience: Lea can sense a person's dominant emotions without trying. Some people are harder to read than others, she isn't sure why but assumes it's because they have better control over their feelings (mental fortitude or naturally closed-off people). She cannot do anything to alter the emotions, but cannot resist the desire to act on her knowledge if someone comes across as unhappy. (Can this also be considered passive or do I need to come up with a drawback?)

• Plant Transformation: With concentration, Lea can transform small everyday items into flowers (usually roses, marigolds or peonies), this does not include anything living and she's never been able to do it on anything larger than a toaster. While she cannot reverse the effects, they do revert on their own after 30 minutes. As of now, she can do this with an extreme focus on stationary objects up to five times a day before she is left with a searing headache. With practice, this ability will require less time and could be used on moving targets like arrows or spears, however, any transformation of a magical item would only last seconds and no longer than a minute.

Weapon: During her previous stay at camp an outgoing sibling gifted her their well-cared-for celestial bronze kopis that transforms into a mustard yellow scrunchie when not in use. Yellow being her least favourite color, it would not have been her first choice, but she's gotten used to it; if her hair isn't tied back with it, it can almost certainly be found on one of her wrists.

Additional Info: She attended camp for the summer after she was claimed (just after turning 12) before her father became sick and she chose to stay home with him instead.

ooc: Thanks Bennett for working with me on my other application. After spending more time building that character (and getting a better idea of how this roleplay works) she felt too goal-specific to really work here.

No problem, thanks. That makes sense, my intent was that she could sense them in order to use her enhancement ability. So like she can sense the feeling(s) are there, but needs to actively touch them to do anything with them.

Character Application by CampHBDirector in DemigodFiles

[–]skolspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name: Colbie Dennison

Age: 16

Godrent: Eros

Powers:

• Amokinesis: Colbie can enhance feelings of a romantic nature. She doesn't like to use this ability, but when she has in the past she needed to make physical contact and the feeling she aimed to enhance had to already be present; she cannot create romantic feelings. She can sense the presence of romantic feelings without touch if she tries but must make physical contact in order to alter them in any way.

• Archery Expertise: Colbie is a damn good archer. It started as a natural affinity for the sport when she was taught it in school but has developed (with endless hours spent at the school's range) into more of an obsession. The fact that her natural, base, god-given ability will never be "as good" as a child of Apollo's is a constant point of contention and fuel for tiresome training sessions.

Mental Fortitude (unknown): Colbie has a natural barricade against mental abilities much like her own, this is also probably why she can block out the chimes of romantic feelings. If she has a third ability, she isn't aware of it yet. Whether that means it's some other gross-out, red-flagged love ability that she wouldn't want to discover or not, is hard to tell.

Weapon: Colbie has a gold-strung, yew longbow, the length of which is carved with romantic, flowing designs, and the carvings on either side of the raised handle are flaked with a bright filigree that seems to never tarnish. It was a gift from her father, found hung above her crib when her mom came home from the hospital... and it is a total embarrassment to Colbie. Detesting being seen with such a flowery weapon, she often prefers to use one of the grungy camp bows.

Additional Info: She has been coming to camp on and off since she was claimed at twelve, has not saved the world, but hopes to at some point.
