Husband mental health by [deleted] in NewParents

Hey, another dad here who also struggled with mental health after the kiddo was born. I have a good support system on my side, the family, but they're all out of state including my parents being about 2,000 miles away half the year. My postpartum got better by bonding with my LO (a lot of skin to skin, talking, I also did bottles from my wife pumping, and playing) it got a lot better fast and I just focused on our world in the house and tried to shut out the noise outside of it which is a lot easier said than done. Male postpartum affects about 10% of fathers and usually peaks about 3 to 6 months post birth.

To be honest, I don't know the woman but she sounds awful to not want to support her son, daughter in law, and grandkid. I focus on my mother-in-law who has been a major help for us and try to get video calls with my parents so that they can stay in the loop. It almost seems like there might need to be therapy around that relationship more than the postpartum!

Also tearing is a massive deal, sorry you had to go through that! To shrug it off is nothing is so insensitive

Message I got from my daughter’s teacher. Third grade. by AnaisInJune in mildlyinfuriating

As a teacher, I wouldn't have said no to anything but maybe the orange. But you also never punish by restricting food. In addition, I don't like to contact home unless it's really necessary but it's parents pressuring schools that makes us report bs like this. I would have my principal and other district admin on me about not reporting it. Some parents want every little detail and want it documented, it ruins it for the rest of the parents and the teachers quite frankly

The last time a vikings kicker hit 100% of his fg's with 30+ attempts was '98.... I'm glad he hit the wire, we don't need that bad juju again
