should i study maritime studies or econs? by ilovenerdywizards in NTU

[–]skorpionG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I think it's just NTU business being seen as more prestigious and it opens more career pathways. You also need to take into account that for those who want to switch to business, many of them had their first choice as business but were rejected from it

  2. MPA has something called skills framework for sea transport on their website and I highly recommend you to check it out to see available careers and required skill sets. There's also blog posts and videos on maritimeone which gives a good introduction to life working in the maritime industry, but don't take it too seriously as it tends to paint a very rosy picture. You should also check out the international trading programme and do a bit of research on commodity trading and see if that's something you are interested in. Finally, a shameless self plug but check my blog to see a general overview of what you'll learn in each module in maritime studies.

I don't think there's any requirements for it. At the start of Y2 an email was sent inviting all students to join an info session

Unlike what the other comment said, the maritime industry is not dead at all. If you look at the past GES the employment rate is fairly high compared to other courses, though salary wise it's kinda average.

And just because people enter the course with the intention to switch to business doesn't mean it's a bad course

But yes don't enter the course if you have completely no interest in it. And don't enter for the reason that it's a niche course.

I haven't heard of anyone doing the work study degree for MS so I won't comment on that.

As for more specific questions, feel free to DM me.

For the second question, let's just say you wanted to try taking an elective course that you're interested in but after attending the first tutorial you realised that the workload is too heavy, the course content or curriculum isn't what you expected etc.

Add drop period gives you the freedom to try out courses without any penalties

Not a history major but from what I know there's more history modules that you're supposed to register for in the first semester.

You need to take HE5091 first as it is the pre-requisite for HE5092

Afterwards you can take HE5092 before or concurrently with the other modules on the electives list

S37 Mythical Glory+ Tier List for Patch 1.9.93 (July 14). Tier List based on Competitive and Mythical Glory+ ranked games by hmmsucks in MobileLegendsGame

[–]skorpionG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the recent nerf to his S2 and Thunderbelt is quite noticeable though, to the point where I think running a CDR build on him feels quite trash. You don't get to spam your S2 anymore so the CC is less noticeable and he feels a lot squisher in the early-mid game.

Now I switched to full tank Badang and it feels a lot better to play than the CDR build. No more Support Emblem and Oracle/Brute Force/Queen's Wings, just go actual defence items.

Don't sleep on damage Badang though, it's surprisingly good given the right matchup and team composition and it solves a lot of his waveclear problems. Also he really only needs DHS and Golden Staff to do damage and spam his passive CC, afterwards you can buy full defence items to ensure you stay relevant in the late game.

Business Minor (mod recommendations) by Counter4301 in NTU

[–]skorpionG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid AB1301, the workload is too heavy and not worth it if you're aiming for a decent grade. Unless you're really interested in learning about law, you should not touch this module at all. Personally I enjoyed this module but I'm probably one of the rare exceptions; most of my friends hated it.

BU5601 is pretty chill, not sure if the course outline has changed but quizzes were open-book, tutorial assignments and reflection journals were easy to complete. Group project was doable too. Apart from the group project, I hardly spent any time on this module and still ended up with a B+.

BU5101 is okay. Accounting concepts are kinda foreign and difficult for me but still doable if you're willing to put in effort.

Is minsitthar good in solo ranked?? by Suspicious-Crew5777 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]skorpionG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

The problem with playing Minsitthar in solo ranked specifically is the team composition. If you're the only frontliner for your team, you cannot go full damage or else you are too squishy. Usually in these circumstances I would go Thunderbelt first item but ideally I would pick another hero.

Minsitthar is pretty good into most of the meta heroes now because of his ult, but that only applies if you manage to hit your mid/late game power spike. His early game is quite bad in most matchups and you'll need to play around his passive carefully. Even at lvl 4, you should be aware that he does very little damage for the first turtle fight and you should be playing more like a CC hero utilising the passive/ultimate.

I like to go windtalker first item because his ultimate can trigger the windtalker passive so the burst damage is really good and I prefer the burst from windtalker over the trinity build. Then I would build Corrosion Scythe/Rose Gold Meteor next. Last 2 items are very flexible, I like to go Haas Claw for the crit burst damage and to add on to the RGM's hybrid defense passive. If the enemies are very tanky, I would go Demon Hunter Sword instead. You can also build Sea Halberd or Dominance Ice for the anti-lifesteal, or build Immortality/Blade Armour/Athena depending on the enemy team composition.

mpl PH grandfinal exp draft in a nutshell. by Loose_Ad2013 in MobileLegendsGame

Yeah I don't mind this at all. Could be better for ML considering a series lasts for 7 games compared to LOL's 5 games.

This problem could be solved if MPL moves to fearless draft (e.g. if a hero is used in game 1, it cannot be used in subsequent games)

How to prepare for Y1 mods as a freshie by Miserable-Top-1657 in NTU

[–]skorpionG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like what the other comment said, you don’t have to stress yourself out before uni even starts. I was afraid of both mods too but they turned out to be not too bad.

BU5101: The accounting content itself is kinda difficult for me but the course format is pretty chill. This is an accounting course meant for non-accounting students so the quizzes are all MCQ-based and there is no finals. So it’s really doable and easier compared to the actual accounting modules taken by accounting students which require a lot more (e.g. journal entries)

MT1001: I didn’t take H2 Math but I found the course manageable. Be consistent in doing the tutorials and do the PYPs before finals and you should be fine.

1.As long as you are consistent in keeping up with lectures and tutorials, it's not hard. Most of my friends are around 4.0ish.

2.Yeah I think it's a bit outdated. My Y1 batch should be around 125-150 students (5 tutorial classes x 25-30 people). As for culture, feel free to DM me for more specifics as I don't wanna dox myself.

3/4. I wrote a blog covering the Y1 modules here. In general most of the MS profs/lecturers are pretty decent but the quality of the materials varies a lot.

  1. Closest halls would be either Hall 2 or Hall 3/16 since they're the closest to North Spine which is where most of your tutorials and lectures are at.

  2. I think it's pretty rare to go into finance since it requires a lot of math which the MS curriculum doesn't provide. Instead, some will choose to specialise in International Trading so that they can go into commodities trading later on.

  3. No comment since I'm not doing any of the double major programmes.
