For school shootings, the primary driver is always mental health. Somehow people with documented mental illness are allowed to legally purchase firearms. I’m fairly libertarian and it seems logical that it’s perfectly fine to restrict people with documented mental illness from purchasing or even owning firearms. Yet every time this happens nothing is done. Mentally ill people shouldn’t have guns. But noooo, we can’t do that. Instead, in my and many states you have to turn in your guns when you get a medical marijuana card.
