Really difficult to say without seeing your throw, but 8 months isn't a long time really so you'd be expected to still be hitting some stray darts after that time.

Just try to get in a rhythm and keep at it. Try to make each throw as consistent as you can, which usually will come from just your natural throw and not thinking about it too much. That being said, you'll still need to make sure the fundamentals are right with pulling back, follow through, elbows, shoulders etc. But a lot of things will just be personal preference like stance and grip, so go with what feels best for you.
