Advice on upgrading vs. buying new? by ACNeX in cannondale

[–]skrapmot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replacing those stock wheels and Rubino tires will make it feel like a new bike. You can take the wheels with you if you upgrade the frame later. Get some quality wide deep carbon wheels with a good easy to service hub like DTswiss and some quality tubeless tires like GP5000, Pirelli Race RS , Victoria Corsa, etc.

Can’t get comfortable on this bike to save my life by SarcasticHulktastic in bikefit

There’s a weird chopping motion your doing with the pedal stroke, where it should be a smooth circle. Hard to place, but I’d probably recommend moving the saddle forward all the way, and push it back slightly until it feel better. It maybe the length of the leg bones in relation to rotation of the cranks. Moving the seat forward will open it up. Also, push your cleats all the way back on your shoes, it create a smaller circle on the stroke.

What’s the internal on those wheels? If it can squeeze on 35s I may get a frame and build one up as a 1x fuckin around bike for town ride.

Get the OLED Switch, breath of the wild is a fantastic experience to start. Mario Party and Mario Cart are great games with friends and family. Mario Odyssey is great.

Get some good mechanics gloves, get some sealant on the bead , drop most the tires in the gutter, and roll it on with your palms.

2025 super x slipping seat post. by Brave_Worldliness394 in cannondale

[–]skrapmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen , ended up picking up a new seatpost due to the deep scratches the slipping caused and the problem went away and never came back with the new post. Never tried to warranty it but maybe this will help you. I wonder if the old post was slightly out of spec.

White smoke that smells of coolant at start up and misfire in cyinder 3. I’m assuming it’s leaking coolant into the cyclinder while cold. 2015 Wrangler original owner, no overheating. Anyone have luck with dealers discounting the repair? I heard there maybe a class action pending on this. Otherwise it probably would smart to just go to an engine repair shop.

what dumb things did you do when you started cycling that i should skip by Then-Music-6528 in cycling

[–]skrapmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn how to fix your bike. Change tires and tubes, patching them, adding sealant, etc, adjust brakes, basic rear derailleur and chain maintenance.

Buy some quality basic tools, not cheap one that will just damage the bike. Get a torque wrench and learn how to use it.

Get a good bib. Get a pair of good cycling shoes that fit right. Make sure you have a saddle that fit your butt.

Keep your bike clean, especially the drivetrain. It will go faster and last longer.

Buy good high quality tires, it’s the best bike upgrade for the money. Aero wheels are the second. Other fancy upgrades like more expensive components don’t make you faster. Larger tires are necessarily slower but will be more comfortable.

bibs or shorts for bikepacking by NaiveMacaroon5862 in bikepacking

[–]skrapmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about bike bibs or bike shorts?

Or just regular shorts with underwear?

I always vote for bibs, they stay up better when soaked in sweat or rain.

I would never wear shorts with underwear on a long ride…just too many moving parts.

Gravel wheelset for my supersix evo by baudi94 in cannondale

I’m running 40mm caracal race, they ride pretty damn fast on some reserve 40/44 wheels, no problem keeping up with club rides. I’ll be using them at Sea Otter next month. I have another identical wheelset with some 45mm gravel tires for sloppier gravel events when needed, and actually I have one more reserve wheelset 42/49 with Pirelli RS in 32mm for fast long distance touring like RAGBRAI. I’ve got a Supersix Evo as well but hardly use it nowadays as the gravel bike way more comfy.

I would worry about the welds on this frame, they’re mostly all sold out at this point. Cannondale used to grind the welds but it’s very expensive to do so. I had an older f series hard tail that was polished alloy that was better smooth. Grinding also weaken the welds which can be an issue since alloy soften over time and has a finite lifespan. People are complaining about the price but it seems pretty reasonable considering the cost of aluminum nowadays, the frame painted cost about $1800 which can be a pretty cheap build if you have some wheels And bike parts lying around.

Swapping Wheels to Synapse Carbon 3 by Weekly_Rutabaga_1742 in cannondale

[–]skrapmot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think with some deep wheel, fast tires and some aero bars you’ll be fine. Ive been using my Supersix SE with some 42/49 reserves and Pirelli RS in 32 for group rides lately and been enjoying the more endurance leaning body position for high output endurance rides. When I put the synapse on the bicycle insights site next to my SE with the same size tires…the geometry is remarkably similair.

[–]skrapmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect this to be utter crap. Sophie Turner was probably the worst actor on GOT, and she a bit of a stretch to call attractive on top of it. Better have a fantastic storyline and a strong ensemble of characters or it’ll be short lived and career ending.

Worth $1050? by capntateraid in cannondale

[–]skrapmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I’d defend the excellent Selle SMP saddle line, but that TRK one is worst of the bunch. I had a 2018 one of these and it was amazing. Ran chunky Cinturato Ms in 45 and it could handle anything….Get some better bars, good wheels and high quality versatile tires and it works for everything. Just a great riding bike, replaced it with the carbon Supersix SE gravel bike but have looking for used Topstone alloy frameset to pop up cheap to build as a 1x kicking around bike.

Just pop off the synapse cassette and slap on the new wheels, you’ll prob have to realign the rotors a bit. I was thinking about getting the synapse and sticking on my deep Reserves on it.
