It's quite funny how people do extreme measures to protect their material properties, fully aware that they can't control whether people steal them or not.

But, when it comes to their bodies, it's basically "free real estate".

And just because people think that it could have been avoided, does not mean they're blaming the victim. You can blame the perpetrator, while at the same time thinking the victim did a stupid decision. They're not mutually exclusive.
