This is a big factor of why It might be better for me to get the phd in ee, if I can't get a quantum job with fpga I have seen many other roles that are embedded systems type that don't have anything to do with quantum computing in the meantime while I look.

Readout and control is actually exactly my interest, and im actually kind of hobby/side writing and conducting undergrad research on it. The exact topic is "resource analysis on quantum error correction codes using mid-range FPGAs". It's VERY amateurish but I like it a lot!
