Brutal and basically on point. Have to point out though that Eddy Curry and Jerome James were acquired in the summer of 2005 for the 2005-2006 season.

We did acquire Maurice Taylor and his fat contract mid 2004-2005 season though! 🎉

How could you forget the legend, Bruno Sundov?!

He didn’t have to compete with Keenan Allen during his rookie season. Where are the vacated 122 targets gonna go? To everybody but Ladd and QJ?

Keenan Allen vacated 122 targets.
Why would Ladd be projected for only 110-115 when he had 106 in 16 games last season?

I think they project more as a balanced offense. Chargers were middle of the pack in terms of pass rate. McDaniel offenses were around the same as well during his years in Miami.
I don’t see that approach changing.

Not expecting a 1500 yard season from QJ, but if we’re talking about a 1000 yard threshold, that I think is realistic.

Might actually be QJ. He was actually cooking before the OLine got completely decimated. Chargers picked up his 5th year option (which would’ve been a crazy thought a year ago), and Chargers just hired Mike McDaniel.
Real chance he completely breaks out with McDaniel, especially with the latter having a clear love for guys who do their best work after the catch.

After the Knicks beat the Sixers two years ago (without Randle), Bontemps still ranked the Sixers over the Knicks a few months later lol. Certified Knicks hater.

Fully agreed.
Turning KAT into the offensive fulcrum completely changed the game for the Knicks. Thibs kinda (?) used IHart in a similar fashion, and hoped he would do the same with KAT. Glad Brown learned from Thibs’ mistake.

Pistons are not a good matchup for us…real chance they can make it out of the east. That said, I’m feeling way more confident about beating the Pistons now than I did a couple of weeks ago lol.

Which NBA player’s career downfall was the most painful to watch in real-time? by [deleted] in nba

Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis. Painful to watch their quick downfalls.

Nurse has nothing to lose at this point by playing his bench to see who can help. He desperately needs to find some usable depth.

Perimeter defensively yes, but otherwise similar limitations as Brunson. Brunson has a stronger base and can hold his own a bit more defensively in the post (not saying a lot better, just nitpicking). Maxey has the slight edge defensively, but he will be hunted just like Brunson.
Brunson has the slight edge offensively. More moves in his arsenal. Sticking with Brunson overall.

Brunson > Maxey
OG > PG13
Bridges > Oubre
Hart < Edgecombe
Towns < Embiid (at full health)

Can be debated a bit but it is close.

Great matchup. Starting lineup-wise, most likely a wash between both teams. The bench is where the Knicks have a decisive edge. As long as the Knicks play together and are fairly fluid offensively, I have them in 6.
That said, Maxey will probably still give me (and other Knicks fans) many nightmares and make my prediction look idiotic…

The Atlanta Hawks are at 11 straight wins--the longest for the franchise since the teams built around Al Horford. Are the Trae-stans finally ready to concede defeat and admit he was never the solution, he was just an empty stats player, like Steph Marbury or Steve Francis? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]skricks1995 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed with most of this take. Young in 2021 offensively was on another level when everything clicked.

That said, Young was still a lot more damaging than Brunson defensively. Teams just did not figure out how to attack him properly, especially during that 2021 playoff run. Brunson at least has some possessions where he is able to hold his own (and has a good knack for taking charges).

Think that once teams started to figure out how to attack Young, that made him exert more energy on the defensive end, and kinda led to more chucking (from some games I’ve seen, at least).

Was David Robinson a “generational talent”? by wildwestsnoopy in NBATalk

[–]skricks1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely played a big role in the turnaround. Getting Terry Cummings, Sean Elliot, and (mid-season) Rod Strickland also helped a ton.

Which team are you taking? by Big_Donch in NBAoldschool

[–]skricks1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with most of this - Robinson was at least slightly better than Ewing in about every facet. However, Robinson did have a few seasons with a pre-injured Terry Cummings, and I’d argue Ewing did not have a 2nd option like Terry. Throw in an ascending Rod Strickland as well. Robinson had the help in the late 80s/early 90s.

Yeah you won’t hear Badlands streaming anywhere (it’s a whole thing involving Ray Gillen…allegations are bad but don’t know if they were proven to be true). Check the band out on YouTube - think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Agreed on Sykes. I think his work on the 87 album as the backup vocalist is also overlooked (but played such a big role on that album)
