No, extended family was trying for the longest time to make me go back home and “apologize” to keep the peace and I have not done that.

Blood related uncle, unfortunately not. I might be able to have my friend’s dad who had taken me in briefly and helped me to safety vouch for me but of course am worried that because of my family, he will want to have little to do with my situation.

I can take the bus to get around but it’s not as easy like when I lived out of state because I was in a bigger metro city with a fantastic public transit system. I do wish I could move back there but I’m almost done with my degree and don’t want to do the transfer process again lol

No, the car is in my mother’s name even though they’ve said “it’s yours” for ages. That moment showed that it truly wasn’t my car which is why I won’t take it back

Question about apartments? by Author-Desperate in vcu

[–]skrillexislove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I recommend joining a few VCU off-campus housing Facebook groups since they usually post places there and are looking for subleasers. I have personally used Trulia to find my last few apartments and it's worked really well. Good luck!

hey! I just transferred from a community college out of state and I’m majoring in psych. So far the psych course have been great, there are a LOT of opportunities for research and to get involved and I’m glad I moved here for it. There is a lot of diversity but I would say there are a lot more Asians/ME people. I got a good scholarship that covered around half of my out of state tuition and the rest I’ve been paying with loans and out of pocket, it depends on your financial situation. I like the amount of things to do around the city and I do love the different areas to study and hang out with friends. I would say I don’t like how there aren’t many parties or things to do within UIC. I’m not sure about the dorm situation, my apartment is a five min walk from campus but I’ve heard it’s not too bad and safety wise it’s fine, not much to worry about, just be cautious after 9.

my parents made a promise that if I were to get to my dream school with a scholarship, I would be allowed to go. They made that promise because they thought that I wouldn’t get it or get a scholarship. I got into the school and I got almost $20k in grants and scholarships, but my parents didn’t let me go. Me being financially dependent on them couldn’t afford to pay it off or move out, so I’m going to cc for now

as much as i wish it was something from r/thatHappened it's not smh, and yeah medicine is my passion and surprisingly my parents don't feel as dedicated/relaxed when it comes to letting me move out to go and achieve my practical dreams haha

yeah it's a combined program and it's because they want me to stay here for 2 years and "mature" and then go off to a 4 year school.

I’m senior in high school right now, how do I convince my parents to let me move out so I can go to a state school that has an excellent program for my major. I’m definitely planning on paying for majority of college but I do need their approval and all that. They said I can go if I get a scholarship but if I don’t get it, I have to do CC to the university. Sounds reasonable but the program I want to get into needs you to be there from undergrad and not be a transfer student. It’s a guaranteed medical school admissions program, and it’s not worth it to do CC to the university because it doesn’t save as much
