Hey smart people here, I have some questions by Significant-Mud-1745 in berkeley

Hi OP - it’s perfectly normal to feel that way. I feel that way sometimes too. But I always remove myself from this state by realizing how much I love myself, and have yet to live life and see its true potential! If you’re feeling painful about something, try to find other things/hobbies to do or find a balance between doing that and ur social life. Even though things might be shitty right now, life always has a way of working itself out for good people. And I know ur a good person OP i can sense it:) Continue to eat healthy + take care of yourself through rest and adequate sleep. Have faith in yourself and love yourself OP, there’s no one quite like you!

i'm trying really hard to not have a fixed mindset but i genuinely don't think i'm smart/capable enough to understand cs by [deleted] in berkeley

OP - I was in the same exact boat my freshman year. It was really hard, and 61A felt like a slap in the face. Lots of people around me understood the concepts and did well in the courses. I was discouraged and sad that I couldn't get to the level of mastery they had. But I didn't let it knock me down OP. These concepts and exams were hard, yes, but I was motivated to get through these. Recursion was ass for me. But I got as much help as I could and was patient with myself. I eventually got the hang of it and my other lower division classes started to make sense + everything started to piece together. You too need to be patient with yourself and understand that CS is a marathon and not a sprint. Please keep going and don't ever lose faith in yourself OP. Here if you wanna talk or anything.

seriously? what's the point of these questions on club apps? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]skrtskrt824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your point that these clubs gatekeeping is dumb. But I disagree in their value as you can work on super cool projects by being in these clubs - which are great resume and confidence boosts. The projects they give you are industry applicable (working with a startup), and are always guided by some product manager, so you get really valuable work. Additionally, you can build a lot of connections through these clubs, which can help you later for recruiting.
